Does anybody know how to buy the trays by themselves? The magnetic kind that a socket set comes with. I found what appears to be them, although they're not listed other than searching for the set itself. Part number PAKBX1035 for example. No picture. I just have a hard time believing they'd be that cheap. And if not, does anybody make similar trays?

Call Snap On. I've called and asked about buying something similar that didn't even have a part number. "We have no way to charge you for this, so we're just going to send it to you." You never know!

Maybe obvious, but people sell them as take-offs on ebay for like 10-15, maybe put up an advert also in the wanted tools forum. the only issue is shipping is gonna be $7, so on top of even a modest price will be like 7+7 to 10eacb=~14-17 shipped min, so if you can get them from SO with free shipping, you're probably better off. most snap on cases and tool rolls are sub 20 dollars, shipped directly. not messing around with ebay and wasting time might be worth the extra 1-2 bucks...if you need a bunch maybe look for a lot-sale on ebay.

edit: hmm YMMV just searched the website and nothing came up...

This Product is no longer available.

eit 2: 224SFFSM is a two set kit, so the OP post may be semi-flat molded plastic tray/holder, not the mag-tray that normal sets come in.

I may wind up doing that. But I still have my 60% off student discount so new is usually the way to go.
The part number I included wasn't what I meant to put. You're thinking of the right ones. However I can't get them to pull up on the website now. Not sure what's going on there...I'll call snap on.

I have a few from socket sets I bought that I have but don't use. I'd get rid of mine. I have a few from some 3/8 socket sets and a 1/4 set. I'm open to offers.
