I was wondering if you were to use an impact gun on a chrome snap on socket only to run the nut down faster and not let the gun "impact" on the socket would that void the warranty?

my Snap On guy has a no questions asked return policy so I use what ever gets the job done . He claims it doesn't cost him anything to warrenty my broken chrome sockets.

if the back of the socket looks like an 8 point instead of being square then I will lecture you about tool abuse and make sure you leave with impact sockets. most guys break chrome sockets by hand then come to brag about it.

Ok, I have never used any of my chrome SO sockets with an impact except to run the bolt down faster, and I dont like listening to my air ratchet,
I only use air tools with impact sockets I have seen the end results of a guy taking apart a final drive on a dozer using an impact and a chrome socket, it wasnt pretty

A few months ago I had a tough wheel bearing job and broke every 15mm short 3/8 drive socket chromes and impacts (about 4 total) that we had in our shop, a 3/8 extension and a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter with my mg725. My SO dealer just laughed and replaced everything.

that happens. My harley shop broke 15 FTX45E torx bits on one foot peg. finally the old guy working in the corner came over and hit the torx center with a punch a couple of times and he took it out with a torx screwdriver. we all had a good laugh at that one.
sometimes the bolts/fasteners are just stuck

haha thats crazy .When ever I have to get in the bottom end of ANY older Cat diesel ,I 99% of the time I end up breaking a 1/2"dr. 3/4" deep socket, never fails usually on the connecting rod bolts
