Hey guys I seen a used snap on solus pro scan tool with attachments for guy said he bought a bigger and better scan tool and hasn't used it much in the last 2 yearsl. I'm gonna take a look at it in the am. Is there anything I need to keep a look out for. If it has older software is it still use able or does it need the latest software?

It's very usable without the latest updates except if you want to scan a car that is covered under the newer update.

As mentioned, it is $1k to update.... and you cannot skip updates. Let's say it is 3 updates behind and you need the latest, it will cost you $3k to update.

Ed is incorrect, it will not cost you $3,000 to update. If you update everytime, it is $549. Ifyou skip an update and then do it, it is $999. Never higher then that, no matter how many are missed. You may need to buy keys for certain updates which are extra, but it won't be $3,000.

My buddy has one and he opted not to update but bought a new one. They are nice but not worth the money IMO. You may do better buying a new one of a different brand. I think the Solus is over priced.

Your dealer is ripping you off. Snap-On never charges for old updates. The incentive to update yearly is that every other update is half price.

I bought a used Solus Pro from the Snap-On guy last year. I traded my Matco MD-1000 ( OTC Nemisys ) and he sold me the Solus for $350.00 WITH an update.

I do collision repair so that tool is not my bread and butter, but man that tool is fantastic. It really does it all. I am very, very happy with it.
