An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
A friend ask my to help them with their 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 pickup with rough running problem and a trans shifting issue so I borrow another friend's Snap On Solus since it does OBD1 with the right adapter plugs, which he has. So he pointed to his toolbox and said take watch you need. So I grab the Dodge L shaped adapter and the Chysler and Jeep plugs just in case, but with never using a Solus before but tomorrow when I hook it up will I need the personality card that was on the little ring with the OBD2 adapter? Maybe it's a stupid question but want to know if I need to drive the 15 miles out of my way to pickup the personality card?

If it's one that uses keys, you may or may not need it. Should probably get the keys just in case.

*says thanks that my Solus Ultra is the newer one that's keyless.

Power up the Solus and build the vehicle in the scantool using the VIN number off the truck you'll be working on. The Solus will tell you where the ALDL connector is located and which adaptors to use. It doesn't need to be plugged into the vehicle to do this.

The solus does use keys. I would know i own one. But no you dont need the keys for anything obd1. Keys are only for obd2 and the dl-16 connector for euro cars.

If you need the keys, I believe it's the K-13 key otherwise the proper Chrysler adapter plus the external power supply from the cigarette lighter or battery
