Snap-On SRPC107 vs. SRPC105

So, I'm in the market for a new set of snap ring pliers.

For those of you that have one of these sets or the other, how often do you really need the .090" pair? I'm about 75% sure the smaller set will cover my needs. Been racking my brain the last few minutes trying to remember the last time I needed the biggest set of inserts on my old interchangeable ones, and I can't remember. Almost $70 price difference between the two from my dealer.

So, what do you say?

Well, thanks, I guess.

I'm happy to pay the Snap-On price so that I can warranty a damaged pair (if needed) at my leisure from now until my death.

My only question was, for people that have the 7 piece set, how often have you used the largest 2 in the set, which have .090" tips? If you have the 5 piece set, how often have you not been able to get the job done because yours were too small?

I hear that the knipex pliers are awesome.

I've used Knipex snap ring pliers before. On the pair I used, the ends weren't parallel until the plier was maybe 40% of the way open, meaning it was difficult to keep the ring on the ends. Very annoying. I have some other Knipex stuff that's great, but for me the Snap-On design is preferable.

Your info is outdated/incorrect. The SRPC112 set (I have it) is not the same as those others. The box and pliers may look similar, but they are not the same. The metal in the Snappy stuff is stronger and better forged. I've broken a couple Matco branded ones of the same style, not the same thing.

The OP's posted part numbers are exclusive to Snap on and are forged versus the Imperial branded quarter turn/convertible/cam that are in the truck tool equivalent thread.

Yep he is talking about the forged snap on made pliers very nice pliers always worth getting the 7 piece set.

the snap-ons are the best set going bar none in my opinion,and I don't know what you do for a living or would be using them for. but I use the biggest sets quite often,doing diesel fleet work and ****** work.personnaly I would spring for the complete set.you will not be dis-appointed and will never have to buy another pair.
