In regards to Snap on ratcheting screwdrivers, my understanding is that Ssdmr4a was an older model that was superseded by Ssdmr4b. Is that true? What was the difference between the 2 models?

Does anyone have any catalog info or old flyers about these screwdrivers?

The A version always seems to have the direction switch that doesn't look like it fits properly. I believe that the A version was easier to swap shafts in also but the design changed slightly for the B revision.

In case anyone refers to this post later on I thought I’d just add that there was also a change to the end cap that unscrews for bit storage.
The B model used an O-ring on the cap thread whereas the A had a flat washer style. It seems the washer style spreads if the cap is overtightened and goes out of shape. The O-ring is hidden when the cap is screwed home in the handle.
I’m fairly sure that the later cap fits the early model and was the replacement part if the washer style failed.
