Hi' my name is Kenneth, I am fairly new to this forum never posted before and would like to give it a shot. First I would like to thank everyone for all the great info they post on here I have learnt alot. I am sorta a tool newbie' mostly a diy guy so this forum is a big help. My question is' I recently bought a snapon racheting stubby screwdriver off the bay because I hear nothing but good about them. But when I recieved my screwdriver it did not come with any bits so I had to use some of my c-man bits with it but thay all fall out' is this normal or is the so bits a differnt size than regular screwdriver bits?:dunno:

It sounds like the bits you are using are aluminum or the magnet in the screwdriver is missing.

Thanks you guy's for the reply's. I believe mooman is right because I have tried differnt bit's in the shank but they were all sitting kinda lower than they really should in shaft now that I look at it' the magnet must be missing. Will snap on replace this being I bought it was bought off bay? or should I return it and just spend the extra cash for a new one? ( This was my very first snapon tool really like the way if feels in hand, I belive it would be awesome if it worked properly.)

You can try to get a local dealer to replace it for you, but quite frankly you'd be better off returning it to the seller for a credit. You can buy a new screwdriver directly from Snapon.com and have them shipped to your house and there won't be any questions about warranty.

The bits should be a 1/4'' hex where they go into the screwdriver shaft and they need to have some iron in them so that the magnet will attract them. There's a company called Zephyr that makes the screwdriver bits for Snap-on.

You can check with your dealer - mine usually keeps a few "parted out" drivers on the truck. If yours does, he may sell you one for a few bucks.

I looked down into the shaft there looks like something is missing on the inside by the discoloration of the metal at the bottom of the inside of the shaft where the bit fits in. So I think the magnet is missing like mooman said' I am going to return it to the seller on ebay to get a refund. Sad part was this was my first experience with a snapon tool wanted it to be a good one' but it's my fault for buying it off ebay instead of buying direct from snapon. Just don't know how people can sleep at night selling broke stuff to people on ebay. I guess its worth the extra cash for a secure piece of mind in your tools to buy direct from dealer.

To be fair to the guy selling it on ebay they might not have known it was broken. They could have bought it cheap and threw it right on there without checking it out first. May have checked that it ratcheted and never though of putting a bit in it.

I bought my Snap On ratchet screw driver in 1990. In 1990 the screwdriver had 5 bits in the handle. I had to have the same screwdriver warrantied a couple months ago....My new Snap On ratcheting screw driver had five bits in the handle. Now I have ten 1/4 drive bits. take the screw driver to a Snap On Dealer for warranty. It sounds like the mag is not in the screwdriver shaft.

Ye' your right, I contacted the seller and they said they had not tried the screwdriver to make sure it was working properly and they issued a full refund plus ebay issued a return label for free so I am going to drop if off tommorrow at my local ups. I think I will just order one direct from snapon this time so make sure I get the warranty. Man ' you guys have been great I really appreciate all the help and responses this is great forum.
