Does any one know if the Snap on student discount is offer to Canadians. I have tried to contact snap on but they have not gotten back to me.

I don't have a ton of money to spend so I thought I would take advantage of the student discount if I could. I have been looking at the KRA4107 as it gives you a working surface, krsc46, and the KRA2411. I really like the KRA2411 but I am not sure if I can spend ~$3800 on a box right now.

I have been checking out CL but anything in my area typically is the KRL going for ~$5,000 or boxes that are just beat up pretty good.

Any comments on the boxes would be great.

For my experince, these deals are normally handled threw the school. I have no idea about Cananda, but SO always seeemed the hardest to deal with if not face to face with a sales rep. I remember both Matco and Mac you could sign up for discounts on online and order.

You mention a box but no tools. To me if you have limited funds I'd go after a good set of tools and a lesser box. Tools make you money not the box.

go to the snap-on website, and register for the program at the bottom of the page. It will have a list of schools available from what I remember. that 2411 is only $2200 through the program, but I would also recommend getting tools instead of a box.

This is well said. Storage needs are pretty much essential to keep all your tools. However if funds do not permit, I would have to agree that what you need are the tools over the box.

Thanks for the comments. I have been working since I am 16 so over the years I have been building an OK collection of tools. At this point I would like to take it to the next level and get an nice toolbox / roll cart.

Talk to your local Snap On rep. I just finished a purchase through my guy (British Columbia) under a new program where you do not have to go through Snap On Industrial (School program). If I remember correctly you can make two separate purchases, one between your 1st and 2nd year of apprenticeship and a second between your 3rd and 4th years. I actually did a bit better through the Snap On rep then I did through my Snap On Industrial purchase as all items discounted at the same rate whereas School program has different rates for boxes, chrome, impact, blue pt. etc.

I'm a Snappy franchisee in Ontario, and new to this forum. I can answer this question, as i sell this program all the time. The student discount program through your dealer / franchisee is new ( less than a year old) and is different from the program offered in your school. The deal is, as long as your are a registered apprentice who is enrolled in school, you qualify. Your franchisee will need a copy of your wallet card and a copy of your school registration.
Once you have proof of apprenticeship and registration, you will recieve a 35% discount on anything in the Snap-On catalog and RWD catalog. The apprentice can make 2 purchased through out their appreniceship, totaling upto $10'000.
Your next step will be to put a quote together with your franchisee showing the 35% discount (off list price), fill out a one page application (I fill it out for my guys). Then agree on terms for payment, you can run a truck account (RA), credit account (EC), or pay out right.
Once all this has been done, your franchisee will submit, appr. card, registration, quote and application into head office, and in a week or so, your tools will arrive.
Your franchisee should do most of the work to make this happen. This is a very good program that i have had alot of success with, and have made many of the apprentices on my route happy.
