Snap On Tach Dwell

I came across my old Snap On Tach / Dwell meter that hasn't been used in more years that I can remember. It is a model MT414. When I opened it, I found that the batteries had corroded, and considering that they are about 40 years old, it is no wonder. What would you suggest that I use to neutralize the leaked fluid with. I am hoping that I might be able to salvage this one with some new batteries. Thanks Junk..

Either vinegar or lemon juice to neutralize it and clean it up (assuming alkaline batteries).
