There is/was one locally on CL for $500.

I had one for a while, but t's really tough to go back to plain slides after getting used to roller bearings. The format of that box is a bit funky, of course, but that part worked well for me because I used it with another box in an L format.

My driver could not get new slides for it, but I read here that someone did get them. Even with new slides it's not perfect, though, because the rails that are part of the drawers and the frame get flared.

I missed one for $250.

Well really I had to let it go. I was/am in the process of buying a house/moving so I just couldn't justify taking more time off work and going to get it, and figuring out where to put it and all that.

I called and talked to the guy selling it anyway. About 6 miles away from me. Said drawers were all good and even offered to hold it for me.

I just couldn't manage to pull it off. I did tell him not to sell it for any less than that though, if he couldn't at least get his $250 I would figure out a way to make it happen. He had no problem selling it.


I wasn't as bummed out about that as what happened the week before though.

A kr1000 for $350, in good shape, just a little dirty. It was about 12 miles away and the owner even had a tractor to load it into my pickup. Told him I would try to figure out a way, but not to wait on me.

Same deal, I knew I would be moving so I couldn't really justify it, plus the small shop where I work had just had their compressor go down so I needed to be working to make up the lost time.

The shop was/is jammed full so nowhere to put it there, and no room at home or new place even if I wanted to go through all that effort of double loading/moving.

That one actually stayed on CL for another week for some reason. I was just getting ready to post it here for somebody when they finally sold it.


Good news is I did find a old Kellog American air compressor for the shop. Its a 4 cylinder, 10 hp, 80 gallon, wired for single phase. From what I found online its 22cfm.
$875.

It has 2 smaller behind 2 larger in a v4 configuration, so I guess its a double 2 stage?

A vast improvement over the old husky single stage I had to patch about once a week to keep going. Not sure why it lasted as long as it did.


Edit: I don't know why I called about the snap on boxes, I knew I couldn't get them. I guess just morbid curiosity. I have been looking for a reasonably priced kr1000 for some years now. Figures I'd find a good one cheap just when I couldn't get it.

They really aren't in that handy of a configuration/size for most shops.

But still a lot of good heavy duty tool box for the money.

I happen to have a stainless steel top the perfect size to fit on top of one.

I was thinking I could make a nice trans assembly setup out of it.

If I got rid of another table and moved some stuff around I could put it on one end of a 'C' configuration area and the end drawers and back cabinet would be accessible, a transmission mount/stand would fit right were empty spot next to the big drawer bank is, and fill that bank with the most common assembly tools.

I would put less common trans tools in the lower of the small end bank, and the stuff ppl keep borrowing from me in the upper ones. I'd prefer not to have their dirty, um persons, in my clean area at all, but at least it would keep them from marching all the way in like they do now, as they could just grab whatever from the end of the 'C'.
