I have an opportunity to buy a mid 80's snap on taco wagon for $550. It's in good condition, haven't checked all the drawers to see how they are. Never had one just trying to figure out if I can live with the goofy drawer layout. Worth the $550 you think?

Here is one in Seattle that I was looking at yesterday. Full of tools - granted, mostly Craftsman and many incomplete sets - for about the same price. I decided against it (with the help of some other GJers) because I fear I couldn't get my money back out of it without a lot of work.

The box you're referencing isn't a taco cart. ...a taco cart in decent shape is worth 500 all day

Ab_Normal. I think it's about the best design for a "cart" ever made.
It doesn't replace monster boxes or multiple stacks. You keep it loaded with those "all day long" goodies and go with it when you start working just like any cart but SuperSized.
It has a suspension for the parking lot-runway etc.It doesn't mean put 2,000 lbs in it like a lot of guys do.It means " portable" with with double the stuff of a Boy Cart.
Special tools for the job and parts sit on the top. A Taco cart with a top box isn't being used for what it's intent was.
I need to get another one some day.We used mine at the track(drag bike box).Perfect.

ya, I looked at the Seattle box and it is not a taco wagon.
I used to really want one, but any more I don't have room to use one the way it is suppose to be used.

Me either. I am lucky to find a spot in the corner to put the box, and even luckier if it doesn't end up with a board cart full of plywood in front of it tomorrow.

I've honestly thought about picking it up, cleaning it up and giving it a bit of TLC and flipping it.

I seriously need to take a completed resto pic... But I really wouldn't give mine up for anything
61d99711e85b6c1157b5272333affa9f.jpg since then the drawers have all been sandblasted and coated, wooden top and sun ex pry bar holder have been added and I replaced the box floor lock with a new unit made by the original manufacturer. All new slides replaced under warranty, newer tubular locks added as well

Amazingly, there are 4 Taco Wagons on San Francisco CL right now...4! I already have two so I won't be chasing them.

One at $800 in okay shape with a nice Wilton 4.5" Vise. A pretty nice looking one at $950. Another okay one at $1250. Last there is a nice looking one with a bunch of Mac top boxes and some hang on boxes at $1500.

If you haven't bought yours yet, I think at $550 you're in for a win. By the way, the drawers are much smoother with a load than without, so load them up when you judge them!
