This is one handy anchor pin press. Saves time and aggravation. I do not see it on the Snap On web site anymore. Anyone else have one?

Yep ive had mine since they came out. Just wish the small shank was longer for clearing the hub's on the front brakes.ALWAYS keep the forcing screw greased or it will seize in the frame !

I've only used it twice so far. It worked like a charm.

The front hub's on our IH 4900 trucks at work have notches that the small shank on the screw fits into but at the start the threads are against the hub. Have hod no issues on the rears havnt had a pin/bushing I couldnt get out with it wish i would have hade it years ago.

I usally don't have a problem with the front. On my job no one likes to replace the pins in the rear so they are always frozen. The pins always comes out with the bushing. I use a hamer and a special tool to remove the pins and bushings in the front. I have another tool I use to drive the new bushings in. I'll post a pic asap.

Is it the air hammer driver set matco sells ?

It's just a driver tool. It slides in and I just use a hammer to drive out the bushings. It works really nice. the other tool drives the new bushing in.

Here are some pictures of the bushing remover (black) and the bushing installer (silver). The remover is made of steal the installer is alum. The bushings are 1.25" The installer is made by Dayton Parts Part #11-1830. I cannot see the part number or who makes it on the bushing remover. I had to order each tool from our brake supply store. For "Q" type brakes.

ive had one for over 4 yrs now.makes short work out of a anchor pin job, plus it pushes the bushing out with the bigger head.never had to put heat on a spider since!

now onto the bushing install,i took a new anchor pin, welded some heavy washers to the pin,on the shank, and use it to hammer the bushings in,works good so far. that is over 4 yrs old.

trick is when you push the old one out, clean the hole out really good, nice and shiny,i use a carbide or i have a flap wheel that is the right size,a 1" one works great. a little neversieze and the slide right in easy with not much pounding. drive axles or trailer axles are the easiest, the steer axles are a pain, but they usually fall out anyway!
