3/8s if you want to use it sometimes for, say, intake bolts. But on some headgasket jobs, you can't do the final torque with the 3/8s before it reaches the 100 ft/lbs torque limit. Maybe they'll come out with a 100+ ft lbs for the 3/8s version when they put their 80 tooth ratchet mechanisms in there (I know it works, because I've switched the heads from the torque wrench from my FLF80 and it still worked the same (gave the same reading on the bolt).

Thanks, I think that I am going to get the 1/2 inch version. It goes down to 12.5 foot pounds, I can get that with a ratchet. I'm going to keep the beam ones as a backup.

sorcutt,

Even though the specs. say that wrench goes down to 12.5 ft. lbs., the specs also say (like all torque wrenches) that it is only calibrated to be accurate from 20% to 100% of scale.

In other words, it is accurate from 50 ft. lbs. to 250. Keep that in mind.

Sorcutt get the 1/2 version you'll love it. I've had mine for about a year and can't imagine using a click type torque wrench again! I don't buy many snap on tools and this wrench is expensive but worth it i think

I used the 3/8 one to disassemble and reassemble the ford 3.5L from the Edge crossover in class. We only had to do half torque. That engine is a pain. Thats when I fell in love with these torque wrenches. Now that I'm graduating I am buying tools, not fun watching the bank account drop but oh well. I will be using my Snap-on gift certificate towards this, so its not that bad of a price. Thanks for everyones input. I will be buying the 1/2 inch one in a couple of weeks
