I have one of the above ratchets and seem to remember reading that there was a kit from snap on that increased the number of teeth on it from 20 to I think 30 something. However I asked my dealer and he thought I was crazy.

Tried the search function and found 12 posts about the tm70, alas no mention of updating the ratchet.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

In the '70's at the same time the TM70B was sold (listed as coarse)and shown in the catalogs SO showed the TM75
( listed as fine) with one pic shown for both ratchets. The TM75 had the same width and depth as the TM70B but was 1 inch longer so you could substitute the RKRATM75 (30 teeth) kit for the TM75 into the TM70B in place of the RKRA930A kit (20 teeth) normally used. However, SO no longer shows the RKRATM75 kit for sale but does show the RKRATM75A which was for the updated TM75A---if this updated kit works for your ratchet I am unsure--but it is only a $10 gamble.

Thanks, that sounds like what I remember (only I didn't have the numbers).
Will run my Snapon dealer down next week and see if he has that kit. If not Simple to order and I am willing to take that gamble.
BTW I have had the ratchet since the 70's and it still works, but is chosen to use very seldom as I like my old SK better.

I have an old 40s vintage 9/32" drive SO ratchet that I rebuilt to 1/4" drive (it had been ground down anyway) and the new gear was 30 teeth vs. the original 20. The new gear and pawl just dropped right in.

Snap on doesent make the lower tooth count kits for the 700 series ratchets anymore .
Simply order the rebuild kit for this ratchet and you will get the 30 tooth one.

I just got a TM70B from my grandfather. It needs a rebuild kit. Which kit did you settle on, and how easy was it to install? Can you post a write up of how to install the kit or if there are any special things that need to be done? I know I'd really appreciate it!
