Snap-On TM936 Bit Ratchet - No Magnet?

I bought a TM-936 bit ratchet a while back that had a broken magnet in it. I called in to customer service and got a rebuild kit for it.
After putting the new parts into the ratchet and attempting to put a bit into it, the bit just falls out. No magnetism at all, the bit literally just falls out of the holder.

I assume this is not normal and I got a bad rebuild kit (maybe missing the magnet all together under the insert cover)?

Can anyone confirm how well the Snap-On bit ratchets hold an actual bit? I don't mind calling and getting a new kit, I'm sure customer service will help me out but I want to make sure this is in fact not normal for the part.

I am used to the bit retention in a Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver where the bit snaps into the holder with the force of the magnet.

Here is the ratchet and rebuild kit:

My one SO bit ratchet (and several ratcheting screwdrivers) hold the bit well. However:

The last kit I bought for the newer version bit ratchet the magnet wasn't installed and there was a little metal disc. You drop in the magnet and then pound in the disc with a punch as a retainer. Very difficult to keep the disc properly centered. I ended up super gluing the magnet in. Overall, very disappointing.

I've had one just fall out and get lost. Found a suitable replacement (in a stack of free sample magnets from Amazing Magnets) and super glued it in, too. I finally found it (attached to a bit) - its 1/4 dia by 1/8 thick.

Somewhat related, I got a THNF72 roto-head "kit" that had the anvil only - no springs, pawls, or retainer ring. They ended up sending me 3 other incomplete "kits" over a couple of weeks. The entire batch they had on the shelf was bad. They finally sent an entire new ratchet.(y)

Maybe your kit falls into the "incomplete" kit like the above and the next one you get will be the same. I'd just find a magnet that fits and glue it in.

Update: I pulled the little metal disk out that was inside the bit holder to uncover the magnet. Sure enough, there was one in there but the cover disk had not been fully seated up against the magnet. I re-seated the magnet and cover plate and bits snap into the holder like they should and have a nice hold to them.
