Snap On tool box info needed

Hey all, I was hoping that I could get some opinions on what my current Snap On top and bottom boxes are worth. The reason I'm asking is that I've outgrown these boxes and need more room. I would like (need) to sell these in order to upgrade as the significant other would completely blow a gasket if I brought home a new box before getting rid of these.

The bottom box is a KR660B. It has all bearing slides and the dimensions are 50.5" wide x 44" tall x 21.5" deep.

The top box is a KR650X (can't remember the letter suffix) and it has bearing slides on all of the larger drawers and the dimensions of this box are 35.75" wide x 22.5" tall x 21.5" deep.

Both boxes are in very good condition with some scratches and marks but no dings, dents, rust or other problems. BTW, the non-factory emblems on the top box are actually magnets.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

To the right person,probably around $2k for the pair. I know some will whine about that figure,but that bottom box is pretty sought after around here.

If it were me I would talk to your snap-on tools man and see what he will work with you on a trade...You will get way more on a trade with him than to sell it to a persons.for example,I had a $2500 mac box and when I traded it to snap-on for a krl1023 witch is About $11000.He gave me 5 grand for the mac...hope you get what you want

They don't make boxes like that anymore. Those boxes are back from the time Snap-on used heavy gage steel. I highly recommend that you DON'T SELL those boxes; you'll be sorry as hell if you do.

My own personal opinion to the value of those boxes is about 8.5K.

Thanks for the opinions on their value. I was thinking somewhere around the high $1K's to $2K price point. I really like the quality of this box and would keep it if I wasn't out of room. I was also thinking about talking to the local dealer but I have a line on another box already, but if that one falls through that would be an option.

there was a guy advertising one on ebay and was in the LA area
I had been watching it because I was interested but really didnt have to money to do anything about it.
he listed it 3 times
starting $800, no sale
starting $700, no sale
starting $600, sold, only one bidder

frankly I was a bit surprised, but it seems everyone want the toolboxes with the big top drawer anymore

I ended up getting a used MAC Tech 1000 for $700

I would be interested in your bottom box. same situation though, lack of money

No offense, Merk, but I think you blew a brain circuit on this one. Remember, it's only worth what someone will pay, and I don't think anyone on this earth would pay that amount.

To the OP, I have the same bottom box with friction slides. It's a good box, but I agree with Bob, people prefer the full length drawer. Your setup looks to be in really good shape, and I think it should bring $1500, though I'd start out at 2K or $1800 asking price.

I'd hold onto the boxes myself, though I know everyone's space considerations, preferences, etc. are different.

btw, how old are the boxes? Did you buy them new?

Hey Bob. Interesting info, were they 660's or 550's? You wouldn't happen to have the Ebay links that you could PM me? I've seen some excellent deals on Ebay for boxes but every one that I've been interested in always seem to be thousands of miles away & freight would likely be an issue. Sometimes it's also tough to purchase something like this by pictures, especially if the guy isn't up front and honest.

I don't want to offend anyone either, but I completely agree.

I picked them up from a buddy years ago as he was in the same boat as myself, just outgrew it. I remember when I first got the boxes I was totally stoked (almost embarrassed) on how much extra space I had. Different story today. I'd love to keep these and get a new box but my home garage is tight as it is and the bigger issue, as I mentioned earlier, is the significant other. I can't remember what year was stamped next to the box number but I'm sure they are at least 15+ years old (& probably closer to 20).

That's exactly why the guy should just keep the box -- it's irreplaceable. Wait until he buys a new SO box and discovers that Lock 'n Roll setup ...

50 1/2" wide, 21 1/2" deep and 44" tall with the casters. The slide are ball bearings. James

i'd look for another set just like the ones you have. or find the matching side box and hang it on the other side.

maybe it's just me, but i'd rather have 2 sets of "smaller" boxes, instead of one huge set. always found smaller boxes are easier to move wheni need to

Just keep in mind that "some truck brand" tool boxes are likely too be marked up from anywhere to 10-50%. I know this...found out the hard way.
One of our dealers (not giving the Co.), says that when he sells a box...a good box, he's happy making 10%. Keep in mind that the base price for these types of truck brand boxes I'm speaking of, start at about $3-4k
