Snap on tool box key K5 18

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help. I have a snap on tool box. I lost both keys so I went to the snap on dealer to buy a new key to which he informed me that snap discontinued making the key and that I can no longer get my hands on one. The other option is to drill out the old lock and put a new lock on it. Id rather not do that as there is a possibility that I will damage the box when drilling out the old lock.

Just seeing if anyone out there might have an old or a spare K5 18 key that they might want to sell or if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Will he cut tubular keys? I probably use the guy you are talking about and AFAIK he only cuts straight keys. As was brought up in the OP's other thread, I'm pretty sure the K5 series is a tubular key.

Yeah, I thought the box was open--sorry. I didn't have my keys for my snap on box and a local locksmith wanted at least 50 just to make a key. I ended up just buying a new lockset for 22. If I were you i'd probably just drill out the middle of the lock and turn it with a screwdriver to open. Then I'd buy the k1la. I think you'd really have to get crazy with the drill to damage the box doing this.
