LOL! A box that needs casters supporting a side locker must be pretty tinny. I also noticed they offer a "limited 5 year warranty" on roll cabs and chests. Probably part of the reason Snap-on boxes cost so much is the warranty.

I'd be curious to see how well the extra wide drawers hold up when loaded to capacity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that slope front top box is original to them. While I do have a problem with all the crappy tools that come out of China these days, I am OK with items that are innovative and different.

That slope front top box is a pretty cool idea for a work cart. It is not simply a cheap copy of some US item. I would not be too surprised to see a US maker steal the idea from the Chinese, (now, THAT would be a change!) I believe we have at least one member here who has one, so maybe he'll chime in with a comment about the quality.

Funny, I've seen snap on boxes with side lockers, and the casters bent in.

Montezuma does make the slope top models here. They also produce them (in both diamond plate and steel like their regular line) under the Craftsman name. I have one, and SK has the "crossover" line (different layout). What is humorous, is we each wish we had the other (They also have 3 different sizes that won't fit a standard Craftsman box). I am trying to adapt my layout so the one I bought better serves my needs (restoring an old Craftsman set that I picked up for $35 for its base).

One of their people has posted on the board before, if I remember correctly. Their other boxes are imported, like so many others.

I have had the new Montezuma boxes in my shop. They work great. The new drawer fronts are a direct result of Montezuma spending a ton of time energy and money in box design. They few extra angles look great in person and ad strength. They bring the drawer pulls over the top of the drawer to protect the drawer front. That is one of the first places the powder coat gets chipped up.

As far as the casters under the side cabinets it is just do the math. 1200 lbs rating per caster 6 casters under the box total load rating of 7200 lbs.

The roller cab weighs 1035 lbs top chest 609 lbs and 2 side cabs at 200 lbs each. The total box weight alone is 2044 lbs.

The side cabinets have 3 drawers and 2 shelved with a 250 lb capacity each. The additional casters make it possible for a Montezuma box to carry all of the tools it is rated to carry.

The box with 2 sides and top chest is over 6 foot tall 30 inches deep and 10 feet wide.
And yes they are made in China. However the factory produces the design you give them. Ask the factory to produce the cheapest P.O.S ever they will do it. Hand them designs for a high quality alternative to one of the big three and they build that.

Montezuma has been in business for 30 years and is located in Montezuma Kansas. And many GJ member have their product and would agree that they do not produce anything low quality.

Casters under the side locker is probably not such a bad idea. It takes the load stress off the lip off the top chest and also takes the load stress off the threaded inserts on the side of the roll cab.

what's up guys? you started talking montezuma and you forgot to tell me. i love those guys. i don't have anything but good to say about them. their slope front boxes are awesome and kansas made so montezuma does not equal china. i see plenty of snap on made in china **** so does that mean snap on equals made in china. shame on you krusty and elroy. you guys are the best and usually give out great info but not 100% right on that one. i will admit that i wish all of their stuff was made here but one could say that about many companies. they also are not purposely leaving off country of origin on their products to confuse. can you say that about snap on products? if you have any problems or questions on their products there is a good chance you will end up talking to vince, the head of the company. not so with snap on. i will be honest that i don't have one of their products with drawers but i do have four of their other sloped chests and they are rock solid. i find it hard to beleive any of their products would be light or cheaply made. vince is also a member here. he may chime in although he only seems to respond when questioned and does not use it to promote .

Man, I was scrolling down and asking, Where's SKfarmer? I knew he was the Montezuma user and has had several posts and pics of his stuff. Glad he chimed in and also glad the slope front is US made.

I believe ChadS post was refering to the roll cabs and they do look like SO's.

i hadn't heard that the slope front boxes were made here. my info was based on a post from vince himself. as of that post the only thing made here were the truck boxes.

incorrect? well maybe just a little..........ashamed? hell no......the majority of thier products are chinese made. and we are just talking tool boxes here so snap on is not is not leaving the country of origin off of thier tool boxes to confuse as you have accused. in fact country of origin is listed for all of thier products on thier website, new product announcements and packaging. maybe you should be a ashamed of that false accusation as well.

oh krusty, just razzing you and elroy more than anything. but to be honest you did not specify wich snap on and wich montezuma products you were referring to. i would prefer coo labeling on the product not on the website or the small print on the back of the product. as far as truck box, slope front , cpl, crossover, la, me,sm or craftsman, those are all basicly the same product. the same product they have been making since at least 1980. that is what i would call their main product. the rollers and chests are quite new. only a few years old. i don't think my accusation is to far off as many compaints have been heard on here of snap on products mfg. elsewhere. no bowdown needed krusty just trying to clarify things. i think their products offer an excellant value for the money.
