It's not hit or miss, on their website brochure it clearly states all toolbox sliders are lifetime warranty. If a dealer doesn't honor it contact Snap-on corp. and get them there.
Um, it's hit or miss.
How many people have a 'dealer'?
About one person in 200 actually has a SnapOn dealer.
About one person in 50-60 has a SnapOn tool.
I don't have a dealer.
I can't get a dealer.
I don't work in a shop, very retired.
If I worked in a shop, I would have a dealer, unless I worked in the many shops outside the local dealer area.
I have worked in shops that don't have dealers, ever, because they were more than ten miles from a medium town.
SnapOn will warranty or not, based pretty much on whim.
SnapOn doesn't have a lifetime warranty on their tool boxes. They offer a warranty on the toolbox if you bought it new.
Guess what? Most the toolboxes out there have changed hands. Many more than once.
Why do I know they don't always have warranty?
Because for three months I have been dickering with them over warranting some slides.
Oddly, Accuride says the slides have a lifetime warranty. But they don't sell the slide as it was a contract deal with SnapOn and 'Gee, we would love to help you, but you have to go through SnapOn'.
Who says, Um, you didn't buy it new, or more important, you can't PROVE you did.
Well, I didn't so they are right.
So it has no warranty.
If I worked at a shop with a dealer, I am almost sure they would warranty it.
Look up the expression 'hit or miss'.
