Snap On Tool Box Question

Just a question for you Snap On tool box guys. I am going to look at and possibly pick up this box tomorrow. It is literally a half hour from my house. The condition based on the pic is great. The owner does not know the model however. Its obviously a few years old, but well cared for. The casters look like something off a KRL series, but I have never seen one with 2 locks as the pic shows. Asking price is $1200.00 firm. I know the price on all the current models and they are WAY out there, so $1200.00 would be a steal if its a KRL. Does anyone have an idea as to what model this is and if the price reflects a problem with it?

Thanks,
Chris

2 locks means its an "older" design as far as I know. Id pay $1200 for it.. The triple banks of that era have 3 locks...

I saw that too! Close to me also. Looks like an older KR1001. The 1001 measures 54" long x 30" deep. And I think its around 45" tall. Looks like the old school locks.

Look on the back and you'll see the moddel number and date stamped in it.

I would jump on that right now. That is a good price for a large US made box, especially a KRL series.

If its $1200, that means he'll take a grand for it. I'd even offer $800 and see what happens

Yes it is a KRL 1001, damn nice box for the money. I would drive to NY to get it, if I hadn`t just picked up a 660/690. If you want that box, I`d jump on it.

Here in CA that is a $2K-$2500 box if it's in decent shape. Those are great boxes.
Wave $1000 in his face and pay the $1200 if that 's what it takes if you are in the market for a nice box.

I would buy it in a second. Take 100 dollar bills, show him eight and guage his reaction. If he walks, suddenly remember the other three in your back pocket. He can't hold it against you for trying. Sometimes talking to someone one the phone, and seeing cash can be different things. Money talks and...

Picked the box up this afternoon. A little bit of cosmetic work needed, but otherwise in great shape. Its a KRL1001 for sure, dated 1992. I already pulled out the draws and began the clean up. I'm thinking about sanding it down and having my body work guy do a new primer, paint job and clear coat. All the slides work, but a few were stiff from all the body work dust in them. Cleaned them out and they seem to work great. after all is said and done I think this thing will look brand new in like 2 weeks.

Congrats ..
i picked one up 2 weeks ago from CL and cant be happier
needed some TLC tho :) after some cosmetic work looks good now only problem was after i took the drawers out to clean and lube the slide some of them fall apart but luckily my snap on guy was nice enough to warranty them for me plus the 2 rotating casters which was like 200 something dollars each :0
anyways again congrats and watch out for those slide when you put back the drawers ...
