I picked up this box and the tools at an auction this past week. I couldn't believe what I got them for.I think I did good. I got the box for $45. Its in great shape. I bought the tools in two different boxes and paid close to $145. Everything is in great to almost like new shape. I must admit I collect tools but Snap on were out of my pay grade but I couldnt pass these up. I just need some help on knowing how I did. The socket set has a underlined Snap-on and say SW and go up to 1 1/8. They are all 1/2 drive. The extensions all seem to match the socket set. They are in like New condition. The large rat is marked SL710 1/2 drive and beautiful. The hammer and wrenches are in great shape too. I like the small socket box too. It just has a few pieces but the rat is a GM 70M 1/4 inch drive. Does anyone know how old this stuff is or is it newer. Some guy told me mid 70s box and sockets but I can't believe that. Anyways, any info would be great and appreciated. Thanks:)

I did find the imprint in bottom right of back of box. It was faint and I will look it up. It said KRA 53 0514661 70 Kenosha WI. SC USA 70. Thanks for heads up. Guess you can tell I collect Herbrand and JC PENNEY:)

Thanks for info on box guys. I did look it up and they were made from 58 to 71 and I guess the USA 70 means 1970. Great!

I have the same KRA 53A although up until tonight thought it was an older KR 53.
Mine has a date code of what appears to be 75 on it.
There was an optional KTA-2 drop-in tote tray for the KRA 53A but I've never seen one.
There were other SO boxes that used either the KTA-2 or KTA-2A, probably the same thing.
The previous owner looks to be the fellow in the post above.

I got it at a estate auction for a guy who used to own a local SOHIO station. The tools were the last thing to go so I had to sit around for 2 hours. I saw a bunch of guys crowd around the snappy stuff and I started thinking damn I don't have enough in my pocket to get it. Next thing I know I win the bid for the box at 45 bucks. I tried not to laugh. Then I had some lady bid me up on three ratchets to like 25 bucks and I couldnt believe it. Then I got a whole box of nice shiny SO for 70 and another for 35. I started loading it up and went back inside. Somebody did swipe one of the rats out of the back of my truck while I went in to pay. I'm glad I didn't walk out to see it because he would have a hole in his chest from my 45 Kimber and I would be in jail.
