You have a really nice box. Value also depends on area you are trying to sell. That one needs a lot of cleaning. Look on eBay for comparable sales. Most of us here want a deal, so prices are going to be light.

Thank you for the reply Jim , I'm in Ohio. Another question, for cleaning is a basic degreaser ok or do I need to use something special (I don't wont to ruin the paint) . But I agree it needs a good scrubbing!!

Hello,

If it were mine, I'd wipe it down with mineral spirits to remove the oil and grease and then hit it with a good automotive cleaner/wax. IME SO red cleans up really well. A "creampuff" will be a much easier sell. Is that paint overspray on the back? That might take a more aggressive compound but always start gentle and work your way up.

It looks like a nice setup but the market is pretty thin for boxes like that.

Probably get $6000 for it. Not many people have that kind of cash for more.

I looked at one similar to that about 3-4 years ago. I was in the $3,000 purchase price category, and he was selling in the "make me a offer" range.

Well his "make me a offer" wasn't really. He had a theory that snap on is lifetime warranty, and a new one was $20,000, so his used one was worth very close to a "new" one. His theory had led him to $16,000 valuation.

We didn't make a deal and I don't know if he ever sold it.

That box has a lot of storage, but there are a lot of nice used boxes out there in the 4-5,000 category, that would be much newer than it is.

A new young mechanic doesn't have the money for it, or likely the tools to fill it. The older tech that has the tools to fill it, doesn't want a old one- he already has a old box and is looking for a new one.

So the market is the hobby guy with $$$ that doesn't want to swing for a new one.

$3,500 but you're going to need to clean it. Since we're all just guessing. Nobody saves cash any more so problem is finding someone who does, and wants that particular box.

It's a very nice box!

And the hobby guy doesn't have room for this monster and the new boxes from HF generally suit their needs better. I believe most techs like boxes with a workbench area/hutch vs. a massive chest.

Well, it's a "Gold Medal Special Edition" box. That's got to be worth a grand or so. Or maybe not. I think the numbers people have mentioned are a pretty good guide, but you just never know. If it doesn't suit someone pretty well, they're not going to go for it. It looks like a very nice tool storage unit, though.

I could have made it work for me in years past, but I've scaled down a lot now...

$1,000 seems about right. If you're five thousand miles away from civilization. Get real.

It's an old box, it's used heavily, and it doesn't appear to be in too good of shape. Rails are probably shot too. Good luck getting 30+ pairs of those.

You'd be surprised what's available in the $3,000 price range.

I think I found the online auction. Looks like there's 4 hours left to buy it at $3K. That's a fair price.

I would, as a home gamer I would put it inline with the bigger Masterforce boxes at Menards. Not in quality, but usefulness.

Oh Em GEE!

It has gold trim! And a special “gold” badge!!!

I’m going into debt for this!!! I will look so cool to my other mechanic friends!!!!!

Amazing what the marketing folks get away with and how easily the consumer is taken for a ride and taken advantage of.

As said, you're you're in a tough spot. Short story: $3000

Long story: that is decades old. I know, I have something similar. All the rear rubber bumpers on every slide will be crumbled in the bottom of the box.

And despite the claims, Snap-On does not warranty for life. They will straight up tell you, "Sorry we don't make that part anymore." So getting replacement parts for that thing, is probably not gonna happen. Like the your scratched and dented trim pieces? No way you're getting new ones, even if you offer to pay. I was told that exactly when I called them directly.

And as said already, young guys don't have the money and veterans already have a box. And the middle guys are buying brand new boxes from HF, or a nicer/newer used box off marketplace.

good luck.
