Hello,

I have had my eyes open for a big shiny Snap-On toolbox for quite a while now. I want to replace what I have now (not a big shiny Snap-On). I can usually tell right away if it's a good deal or not, it's not usually hard with these boxes.

I stumbled on this setup and it caught my eye, but I'm not sure on the value -- it has me stumped for some reason.

The boxes are Bottom box: KRA5213DPC Top Box: KRA5208DPC. Seller says they are two years old, seller is original owner and says he is selling because he needs money for tuition for school. He says they are in close to perfect shape and he will remove the decals for me without damaging the paint if I would like. Keep in mind this is for my home garage, not a shop -- not work -- and is definitely overkill. This would be purely a want, not a need.

He is asking $3200. What do you think of the price?

Adam

I'm no expert, but I have been keeping my eye out for a Snap-On box for ~5 months. Based on what I read here, my area is on the high side of prices. That said, there was a KRL1001 roll cab with a KR1201 top box listed for $3500 for months, as far as I know it never sold. Compared to that, the set you posted doesn't seem like that great of a deal.

And stickers aren't a problem. A hairdryer, some 3M adhesive remover, and a quick polish by hand will remove all traces they were ever there.

Ok, now that some of you have weighed in -- let me add that I talked to the seller and he is willing to let the setup go for $2500.

Now... what do you think?

2500 is still high for a Used KRA... I got a KRL7022 + Side Cab + stainless top for $2500... tell him you'll give him 2k and it's a deal

$2500 would be top dollar IMO. I'd offer $2000 like someone else said and meet in the middle if needed. I sold a bottom like that for $1600, but I expect to make a profit when i sell something. Good luck

I left him with a standing offer of $2000 and told him it was the most I could pay for it.

We'll see if he gets back to me or not. I would feel good about $2k for it.

Ok, it's been a few weeks, but we stayed in contact and I picked the boxes up today. He pulled off all the stickers for me and I gave him $2k for the boxes.

I think I will be very happy with the setup -- and my first Snappy boxes!

Thanks everyone for the help.

Pics to come soon!

Here's the first picture, starting to get it all cleaned up and just wheeled into my garage. Very happy with the purchase so far!

You just can't understand how nice these things are until you handle one in person!

Oh, previous owner also mentioned when I picked it up that his SnapOn dealer told him there was some type of issue with the slides on these boxes so he just replaced every single one -- bonus!

Good for you for sticking to your guns and not letting your emotions get the better of you. Now you have the benefit of knowing that since you paid a very good price, when you're ready to upgrade to a KRL (when this box is filled up in a few years, as you know it will be!), you will get back every penny. Great score!
