I am interested in any information about second hand tool box owners and what they did about warranty issues. I've read varying opinions on the forum just thought to ask as I am looking at a box locally, thx!

There is no "official" warranty unless you're the original purchaser with proof of purchase.

If you call SO they start by asking you to contact your local dealer. If you have a $$$ relationship with a local dealer they'll likely try and take care of you based on the value of the relationship.

The days of buying an old used box and asking SO corp. for a complete set of replacement slides are long gone. SO got wise based on the abuse of the warranty.

I recently had a very good experience with parts for my KRA3800 and 3811 top which I got off CL. Needed a couple slides and the top gas springs. Called SO and since there was no franchise near me they shipped it all right out no cost. Excellent response. You just need the part numbers for them too look up.

I have a few of the older snap on boxes that had the 'lifetime' warranty on them
I am not the original owner of most of them.
I called snap on 800 number and they have sent replacement slides no problem ( within the last year).
I have also had my SO guy replace slides for me, no problem.
One of the boxes I bought used had a crack in the metal (fatigue crack) so I asked the SO rep about what the warranty on that would be and he told me that because I am not the original owner, just weld it up and be done ( he knows I weld). When I bought the box I figured that's what I would be doing anyway so no big.
But he did tell me that is I need the slides replaced that's not a problem. I said ok, thanks.
About a week later he brought me a full replacement set of slides and I didn't even expressly ask for them.

On the other hand, I had a problem with a new box I bought from them. They ordered me a replacement box, no problems

I am not the original owner of my box but got my slides and two casters replaced after I bought it through my SO guy. As with anything, depends on the dealer.
