I just upsized to a larger 3-bay Snap-on box in royal blue and am in the pursuit of matching Snap-on cart. I have found one at a pawn shop on local CL but they are asking $550 (dropped from $650 after no takers for 2 mos) and are standing tall on that. For this reason I was considering buying the HF model that everyone seems to like and painting it but I have soooo many projects going I didn't want to wrap up the labor in such an undertaking.

Placed side by side, is the Snap-on that much nicer? I think Snap-on site shows the current model to weigh in at over 150lbs! I'm guessing thicker gage metal, heavier duty slide, etc.

For you Snappy tool cart owners, besides the obvious name brand benefit what else is there that you really like about the cart?

My guy had one of these on his truck for about a week, it is defiantly big and heavy duty, they go for $850 new so if the one at the pawn shop is in nice shape then $550 is a good deal.

The snap-ons hands down roll nicer than any other cart I've had/been around. The shop floor where I work isn't in the best shape and once you get it rolling you do more guiding my cart than pushing it. The casters they use roll smoother and quieter than a similar Matco from what I've seen at work or any of the cheapy carts I've had.

If you dropped the coin on a triple bank snappy box and want a matching cart, what's another $500?
Too late to get cheap now.

Would better castors fix this?

But would you pay $850 or even $550 for one?
For the cart you posted above? No way in hell. There are better carts for less money. If I was in your position, I would look for a KRSC46 because I believe the extra drawers on the bottom will be a lot more useful then the open space of the KRSC33. The 46 is also wider then the 33 for more storage space.

Here's one on my local CL for $600...

This is not a rare find (around here anyway). In the last 6 months I've seen at least 5 to 6 KRSC46 in various colors posted on CL for between $600-$800

I have an old Snap-on tool cart. It does the job but I picked up 2 of the new Harbor Freight ones when they came out at $149.99 each. They run $300 but are always on sale for $169 or $199.
They are just as heavy as my Snap-on. They rool gerat and even if it is unlocked each drawer has its own slide lock so when you move it around the doors do not roll open.
If you think it is junk go to the store if you can and check it out. After seeing and owing the HF tool cart all others are over pirce junk. I have 9 roll around tool boxes. I have them all form Craftsman to Snappy and Kennedy.
Some of the new boxes form Snap-on are made in China. I pulled a drawer out of a friends new box when we were moving it and saw the sticker. I don't think anyone else put it there. If I am wrong I stand corrected.

The only thing is that I like the tool carts with the top in two sections that slide back. That way you have a place to put things but I have other service carts that are not tool carts for that purpose.

Even I think the cart at $169 is a very low price. That just shows you how over price all the big truck brands really are. It has more drawers than the Snap-on in this post.

I would never spend the money. I would never pay over $250 for a snappy cart or anyother brand. I have had quite a few of them through the years and I did notpay that for them. I sold them for more. When you buy estates and shops out you get some fantastic deals. Cash talks.

The wheels might be better on the Snappy carts but the rest is the same or better on HF.
I an not a HF fan but sometimes they do have a good item and thier tool boxes are one of them.

Looks like a KRSC33. I have it in extreme green. Nice heavy duty cart. It lists for $895. Its nice because its all welded and it comes with heavy duty casters. I didn't pay full price but I paid more than $550.

This is the type dialogue I was looking for. I got the three bay Snap-on in royal blue pretty cheap actually. It is an older model but sat in storage most its life. Came with stainless top, first gen hutch (for sale BTW), drawer liners, and stainless drawer protectors all for $3k. Not a "you ****" deal but not a bad deal either.

I found three black ones that had closed on eBay for under $225 so I was hoping to hold out to find a blue one for $300 or so.

I have it in royal blue. Bought it new. Absolutely love it. Holds a lot of weight, 3 drawers and a deep top compartment. I was sold when I discovered it is made in Canada :)
