How much would you pay for this? Approximately how much would it cost to restore? Do older Snap On chests have ball bearings slides?

That top does not have ball bearing slides. I JUST bought one of those exact same top boxes for $60 in a similar condition (but that was a very good price).
I'd pay at least $150 for that setup in "garage sale" conditions.

Depends if we are talking tools included or not tools. I would not pay more than 150-200 for that set up with out tools, and up to who knows if tools were there depending on type and brand. No the boxes are not going to have ball bearing slides. Restoring can be fun and cost much less if you do it your self. Several threads on the forum here about people restoring, and pics including.
I would bead blast it, prime it and put 2 nice coats of paint, and top er off with a sealer. Also I would remove the emblems and handles before bead blasting. GL if you take on the project, and be sure and post some pics if ya do.

Found it on CL for $150

That's not bad at all (even in that condition, and empty). It may not have ball bearing slides, BUT that box will weight about three as much as a modern (or twice as much as an old) Craftsman box of that size, because the still is that much thicker. That's a solid box that can last a lifetime, so long as the rust on the bottom isn't structural.

If the guy is willing to take $100 (hey, it doesn't hurt to ask), run, don't walk, to get it.
