Snap-On Tool Roll Cart Decision Help Please

I'm in the market for a roll cart which will primarily live in an enclosed trailer and used at motorcycle track days. I really like the Snap-On KRSC326 (although though the website description isn't working to view all of the specs) and the KRSC40 would be nice also.

For a lot less money I could probably get by with the KRSC31 but I have a couple of questions first:

Does anyone know how tall the lower (open) shelf is?
Can Snap-On bumpers be added (can't believe they're not standard)?
Also, will the lids of these models open when they're against a wall?

I'm sure a dealer could easily answer these questions but I don't have one yet. Thanks in advance for the help!

if i had one on the truck I could give a lot better description. the lids do ok when you are near the wall. it has lock androll so you can leave them unlocked and not worry about tools flying everywhere.
I sell a lot of those andthe krsc46. the krsc326 is about 32 wide

I had a KRSC31 for a short while until the KRSC326 came out. I liked the 31 but it does bolt together as opposed to welded like the 326. You can buy bumpers for it at extra cost but I like the looks of the new style bumpers on the 326. The 31 has a shelf on the bottom that will take full sized gallon jugs easy and I had my case for the Modis sitting on mine (it was a tight fit). If you have seen one of those cases, it will give you an idea of the shelf size.

The 326 has drawers to the bottom, has an unlock for the drawers under the lid, is also built in Canada and both of them will allow the lid to go up if you are about 2" from the wall. Both come with liners although the 31 does not have a liner for the bottom shelf (I made on for mine). Another bonus for the 326 is that it comes assembled but you WILL need an engine lift, hoist, etc. to unload it as they are HEAVY. The 31 can be unloaded by 2 people without a lot of trouble.

Here is my "old" KRSC31

And the new KRSC326 that replaced it.

The 31 is nice but the 326 makes me drool a little. The 40 would probably be overkill but it's only a couple hundred $$ more. Hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm.

One thing to remember, the KRSC40 has 4 drawers and the KRSC46 has 6 drawers like the new KRSC326. The 46 cart was more than I needed for a cart as I have enough space in the main box for most things and the 326 is easier to maneuver around in the garage.

Another thing to know is that as of about mid July 2011, all the previously made KRA and KRSC stuff that was made in CA is now sourced out of the Algona plant in IA. I toured the plant and they had just installed the final assembly line for the KRA drawers.

( I was a Snap On Mobile Company Store Manager till August, like a dealer but an employee of the Co.)

old post but someone bumped it, so

I am shopping for 40" carts. my driver is trying to confirm if the KRSC416 is still made. he said he thought it was discontinued and maybe whatever is out there is all that is left. The KRSC46 would be my next choice. It was seemingly difficult to try to order a KRSC416 friday and he left without giving me a yes, I can get it or a no, they don't make it.

I talked to the Matco guy yesterday about the new 40" cart they have and he said he should have one on his truck next week for me to look at and would offer similar pricing to snap on. He tried to tell me his was made in USA and snap on was CA but I told him I thought they used to be made in CA but now are USA.

I think [new] boxes sold in Canada are made in Canada, and [new] boxes sold in the USA are made in USA. I'm just guessing though since I've seen both stickers. I can ask my dealer on Monday.

BTW, I have a KRSC40 and it does okay for my needs. I managed to stuff all this in it (I use the "cart" as my main box:

1/4" shallow
1/4" deep
1/4" long flex head ratchet
1/4" short ratchet
1/4" FAR25A air ratchet
1/4" extensions
1/4" Misc - mag bit socket, universal, Phillips short+long bits
3/8" shallow
3/8" deep
3/8" bent flex head
3/8" FH80
3/8" IR air ratchet
3/8" extension set
3/8" shallow impact
3/8" deep impact
3/8" swivel impacts
1/2" shallow impacts
1/2" deep impacts
MG725 gun
MG325 gun
BP 3/8" cordless impact
1/2" S80
1/2" SF80
Metric wrenches 8-21
Metric ratchet wrenches 8-21
#1-3 Instinct phillips
#2-6 Instinct flat tips
Mini tip screwdriver set
CT561 cordless driver + BP bit set
Mini pick set
Long pick set
cotter pin puller
Trim panel remover A177
BP panel poppers
BP body clip pliers
Knipex alligators
Channelocks x2
Side cutters
needle nose
linesman pliers
long reach needle nose, straight; 90° nose; 35° nose
~7 body hammers, 3 dollies, 1 slapping file
Face protector
3M respirator
CP 90° die grinder 2" roloc
CP straight die grinder
SO 6" DA
BP 3" DA
Durablock block set in waterloo toolbox
electrical bag with strippers/crimpers/test light/index box of connectors/spare wire/tape etc
Misc: tape measure; flex magnet; 3 blow guns; battery chargers (4); flashlights (2); magnetic dish; gloves (3 pair); burs; drill bits; knives; dual bevel chisel, cotter pin puller; prybars

There's probably more that I forgot, and still adding to it every week. Point is, even though it's a 3 drawer "cart".... it can definitely be used as a stand alone toolbox. Works great in a bodyshop. Can move it around easily (4 casters, handles on both ends) and a great work surface on top.
