Snap-On tool warranty question

I recently purchased a metric/sae flank drive plus wrench set new and thought about etching my name into the wrenches. I have heard rumors that Snap-On will not warranty tools like this. Is this true or just bs? I do not have a dealer as I order my stuff either from ebay or directly from Snap-On. Thanks!

If it needs to be warrantied because of something you did etching it (like making the chrome peek), the warranty can be refused, of course. Other than that you should be fine.

snap on will warranty tools that have owner's marks.

they will not warranty tools that used to have owner's marks but someone tried to cover them up by grinding, sanding, or polishing them off.

Depends on the dealer too, some can be ****** asking for a reciept(not the Ebay reciept) turn you down because they were not purchased from the certain dealer.

If you have chrome peel, they'll blame it on the engraving. It's a good idea NOT to engrave Snap On tools. Just don't let them out of your sight and guard them with your life.

I've warrantied a few through corporate and they never even asked for the old tool back. Doubt they care about engraving.

Snap On sells quite a bit to both private and corporate industrial sales to the Aerospace industry. They engrave, laser etch and stamp those tools as standard practice. I have never seen them deny a warranty for a failed tool because of these marking methods.
