I have a number of snap on tools I need replaced/warranty work..
The problem is, I don't work in a shop where the snap on truck comes by and I don't know the local guys schedule to catch him at a local shop.
Any suggestions you guys have with replacing some sockets, rebuilding a few ratchets, etc.
Thanks!

Email Snap On.

Take some pictures of the items you are talking about, explain your situation and send it all to this email [email protected]
Then if they agree, they'll send you a prepaid shipping sticker to mail them in.

To expand on that, SO Cust. Serv. is pretty good about replacing 1-2 tools no questions asked. If you have a large number then be prepared for them to ask for proof of purchase.

You can try a local dealer but some of them can get pissy about a new walk on bringing in a bunch of warranty tools.

I'd personally go thru SO cust service but space it out 1-2 tools at a time.

Welcome to the forum.

X2 on calling Snap On.

Not sure about doing 1-2 at a time, would it not be better for Snap On to only pay shipping once? If the tools where originally bought by you I see no problem explaining your situation and getting all of them replaced at once. :dunno:

Yes, if he can prove he bought them all from SO then he should get them all replaced. If he can't prove it, he runs the risk of SO asking for proof of purchase per their warranty terms.

They're generally pretty lenient up to a point but their warranty is subject to a lot of abuse so they have their limits.

I've heard. Yes, this is hearsay. I've heard that the truck guys won't warranty a Snap-On tool that you did not buy from them. And why should they since they didn't get your money.

A dealer might be able to send tools into Snap-On for warranty but the dealer isn't going to take a new tool out of stock he or she has purchased and give it to you. Therefore, it would be best to deal directly with Snap-On as others here have suggested.

By the way, if you find a Snap-On tool in my box, I can assure you it belongs to someone else. I can't afford that stuff.

Not the case with my Snap-On guy. I have not only gotten MY items not purchased from him taken care of, but I have had items owned by friends of mine that are not even his customers taken care of by my Snap-On man.

Quality service.

Since they are franchises it really depends on the individual ..I'm that guy that warranties used old Snap-on tools and sells the new replacements on eBay for profit, never had a problem with the local guy ,however,I do make sure to buy stuff from him every now and then as I need the occasional specialty tool..

To the op, definitely email the customer support. More then likely it will be a non-issue

This has been my experience. But if someone flags him down, presents a bucket of rusty broken flea market ****, proceeds to tell him his prices are too high and his mother dresses him funny, they may get different results. :lol_hitti

You then run the risk of looking like you're replacing a bucket of broken tools from the flea market and then reselling the replacements. A lot of crooked people out there.

I personally don't care, but that's highly frowned upon on here. Prepare for a complete and total **** reaming. I bet if he knew that he wouldn't do it though. Be careful.

Thanks for all the advice guys!
The tools are my father in law's that we both use, and pretty sure originally bought by him but who knows when...
I was always under the impression that the tools were warrantied no matter what. With the exception of rust and misuse..
But since I've been using my father in law's tools I've broken a few sockets and he is missing a screw out of a ratchet and another one doesn't work right in one direction.. I feel bad, because I've even lost a 10mm wrench or two..
I've been busy and haven't gotten it all together to send the email or call as of yet hopefully will get to it in the next few days..

I'm not able to afford snap-on tools, therefore I don't want to drive around chasing the guy with the truck. Because I'm not making him any money and I know it's a tough business!
On that note, I've bought craftsman in the past and had some warranty stuff done in Sears with no problems.. But this was years ago.
Is craftsman still have the full warranty? Is it worth it to be "cheap" and go with that if I need anything new?
I do light to medium mechanic work for my own vehicles and run a zero turn mower and keep up on the maintenance on my own..

Sears is still as easy as ever. Less common things often no longer exist so you're stuck with a generally worse replacement. If you have one close and don't care about country of origin they may fit the bill for you. If you're regularly breaking snap on tools though you may he a bit disappointed, hard to say.

I bought the ECFHKY light and the USB connector on the light side can't recharge as the LED indicator doesn't come on anymore. Jiggling the connector will sometimes light up that indicator. I emailed Snap On and they wanted some information and emailed a UPS Ground shipping label. I packed it and sent it to their Northern Repair Center. I sent it on 4/13 and they just received it today - 4/20/16.

read about their warranty policy here:

Over time, I have had good luck with SO tools and their warranty. I have had only one occasion that I had to warranty a tool that I didn't personally purchase.

I was on the road, at one of our Pennsylvania terminals, SO driver was doing business. Once he was done, I explained that the wrench in question came from my father's estate, he looked at it, and I left with a new wrench. Just for grins, we checked the date code, and the wrench was 2 years older than I am.

Approaching the situation honestly, has always worked out well, for me

It really varies dealer to dealer. Guy in town pulls the proof of purchase card on me sometimes. But i am a 30 minute drive to a major city that i go to anyway almost weekly.i know a dealer there and he warranties sockets if their chrome flakes too much.
