Is the toolbox below as bad ugly as I think it is or are there some people who find it attractive? If I can get it at the right price I may do so.

I believe the camo stuff are decals or some kind of wrap so it might could be removed. Don't know if the finish on box would be damaged if the wrap were removed. Anyone with experience removing wrap, I'd like to know if the finish was damaged in any way? The snap on people are to get back to me on whether its a wrap or paint. If box is powder coated may application of a little heat will remove wrap with no damage.

I like the toolbox which is large, it's 55" wide, 29" deep, and 45" tall. That's without the hutch on top. Box model number is KLA1022 and it's supposed to be one of the heavier duty models.

The toolbox is within pretty easy driving distance so I could get it. I just think it's not attractive and would be hard to resell if and when I want to get rid of it. The hutch and the box sell for about $10K new.

Is the box going to be in a war zone

Maybe by some peoples way of thinking. We do have these little Coast Guard patrol boats with fore and aft M240 machine guns mounted patrolling the harbor.

Oh, you can polish a turd all you like.... but it's still a turd.

I wouldn't pay that much for that box.... maybe if he got desperate and was asking $2k or something. $6k is just too much to spend on an ugly box.

If you were to look at these in person they were a very very poorly done vinyl overlay done by and outside vendor to the standard box. the local snap on guy got one sent to him and he had to almost give it away to some one to buy it with the understanding that the vinyl is not his problem when it goes bad.

Hmmm.... Looks a little like Realtree. Not army camo, but hunting camo. It is prob a decal of sorts, but I have done some awesome painted stencilwork on hunting boats and trailers. Never thought about a toolbox though. I do not think I would do it to a Snap On though, a beat up craftsman maybe. Tennessee is home to many avid duckhunters and I bet many of them would love to have this box. Everybody has different tastes! Both my roll around Snap Ons are Bright Yellow...Just didn't want to look like everyone else.

I did see one just like it at a VW dealership yesterday. What do you look for to see whether the overlay is poorly done?

I heard from the snap on people where the box is made and that stuff as far as the toolbox part goes is crimped on. They said the drawers are different on the other boxes, something about the handles and them being anodized aluminum. They said it can not come off without messing up the front of the box.

What I can't figure out ... is why you're looking at a box with an asking price of 6K when you didn't want to spend 4K for that Matco box. What the frick? :wtf:

Well I'm not eschoendorff and if you based your conclusions on what eschoendorff quotes you might want to see where he got his information from and whether it's accurate.

I never said the guy who is selling the toolbox I'm looking at was asking 6k or anything near that.

Why shouldn't I believe what Edward has to say? I can set my watch by what he says. :bounce:

Far be from me to tell anyone what or what not to believe.

Seriously, why not review the thread and see if you can find the origin and /or basis of the erroneous information that you quoted.

Snap-on camo tool box for sale. lowered price from 8k to $6500 Paid 12000 for it 2 years ago.

Nova72 in post number 4 of this thread gave a link to a snap on toolbox for sale on ebay. He said below that link: “ thats a good haul from charleston so I figure its not the box your talking about.” He is correct. What is quoted in bold above is from the link that Nova72 correctly conclude was not the toolbox I was interested in.

If you look at photo in that link and photo of toolbox in post number 7 you will see they are not the same toolbox.

So we got TWO camo boxes going on in this thread?

Yes.

To be precise there are two separate sales going on. One for a camo toolbox with another toolbox on top, this is the one that Nova72 provided a link to.

Then we have another sale, the one I provided photo of in post number 7, which has a toolbox on the bottom and a hutch on the top.

A mechanic friend of mine actually has the camo roller with top cabinet.Providing the boxes sold in the states are the same as the boxes north of the border the finish is a semi-gloss black(it may even be textured) with blacked out emblems and the largest snap-on decal on the inside of the lid you have ever seen.It is a pretty cool box,not for everybody but it does look very good in his shop.

If Ted Nugent decided he wanted a snappy box then you would double your dough!!!!!!!!!!
