I have 5 Snap On KRA boxes, 2 top boxes and 3 bottom boxes. I have bought them starting over 30 years ago, and all have different keys. It never bothered me before, but I am trying to get rid of keys on my key ring, as it has gotten too big.mine are the older double sided keys with the single cylinder lock.
I looked on the SO site, and I can get 5, with the tubular keys, keyed alike for $160. Or I can get 5 keyed alike, tubular locks from any alternate lock place for fiddy bucks give or take. Now you don't get the key shaped like a wrench, but that looks like in would be a nuisance on my key ring. Is there really any big difference in those locks? Has anyone gone down this path before and found the easiest swap?

Thanks,

How about a temporary solution. Lock 4 keys on a ring inside 1 box and only carry that one key around. My only thought on the locks without seeing the mechanisms is the S.O. locks should mount up correctly versus the unknown on aftermarket. Also a good local locksmith could very likely re-key all your existing locks to one common key pretty reasonably.

I can't find any snap on dealer to get me a key for my snap on tool box nor a lock place will make one for me.

It’s been a few years, but I bought matching locks with the old brass type key and those were like $10 each or less

If you pull the locks out and take them to a lock shop they should be able to match up,working ones just fine

Locksmiths are out. There are no locksmith shops here anymore. All locksmiths here are now mobile. It would cost more just to have one show up, than to order new locks from Snap on.

So, apparently, if you want good quality and fairly secure locks, and these types of locks are called Cam Locks, then you want Abloy locks at about $35 per lock. I take security with a grain of salt because I have multiple cut off tools, and a cutting torch and plasma cutter within reach of my tool boxes.

I finally bit the bullet a couple of years ago and changed all of mine out. Was trying to avoid the stupid fancy key.
I had to modify the lock for my side box with a pencil grinder as the mechanism was different from the rest. The driver couldn't find the correct one and I didn't want to pay extra for one lock anyways.

There are many choices out there. Call the guys that sell laundry and vending equipment.

My collection from days gone by......
