Hi,
I am ,an Ag equipment mechanic. I have a Snap On KRA62C Heavy Duty Roadchest. It is permanently mounted in a service van.
my issue is, the piano hinge, that attaches the front cover, to the lid, has broken apart at one end, for a length of about 6 inches. Also at the other end the spot welds holding the hinge , to the lid are starting to break.

I believe this should be a warranty claim. I sent pics to my dealer. He wants charge me $500 , for a complete lid front cover assembly!

Does anyone know the exact warranty covering toolboxes? Any Snap On Dealers , or ex dealers, I would be grateful for your insight.

I am in , Scotland, so would have to go through Snap On's ,UK division/office

I'm also in the UK and none of my dealers have been interested in supporting warranty claims on tool box components, drawers, slides, locks etc, I know of someone who had a complete top box replaced FOC , but it was suffering heavy corrosion after a few months. The piano hinge on my box is getting sticky, when the time comes I'll buy a generic piano hinge and bolt it on.

As a side note , the last lot of drawer runners I brought from snap on , were stamped Korea, the next time I need a set , I'll be trawling amazon etc for them.

The SO warranty is for "defects in materials and workmanship". Metal fatigue is not a defect. I think the key question is how old is this box? A roadbox likely takes quite a beating over time. I would plead your case to SO and remind your dealer you have a choice where to buy your future tools.

5.1 We warrant to Customers who use Goods in their business that the Goods are free from defects in workmanship and materials. We will repair or replace Goods which fail to give satisfactory service due to defective workmanship and materials. Repair or replacement shall be at our election and expense and is your exclusive remedy in place of all other rights and remedies. For Product warranty service, please call us at 01536 413800 or write to [email protected] . The following information will be required with the customers warranty request: (1) date and proof of purchase, (2) where the customer purchased the product, (3) full name, (4) shipping address, (5) phone number, (6) email address, (7) item number(s) or approximate weight of return package. All SNAP-ON and BLUE-POINT tools carry a full warranty, the duration of which depends upon the nature of the tool. The warranty period for a specific product is detailed in the packaging of that product. The warranty only extends to the original Customer and cannot be transferred or assigned.

Snap on is very generous with their warranty here, but I'd have a hard time justifying something I've welded on being a warranty issue.

Are you the original purchaser of the box?
Yes ,I am . I have the receipt.

I welded it last , year. There was the issue , of a virus , going round and 90% of the country, being locked down. As an ,Ag mechanic, I was still working. I did ,email the company, over here. But never got any response. Now it has broken again, I want to see what they say. Dealer, hasn't been round in 4 months.

Then call them at the number I posted. Start by saying, "I'm the original owner and have my receipt". Then tell them you're no longer served by a dealer. Those two statement go a long way.

I worked with an older guy a few years back. He had an old Snap On box that was over 40 years old. There was a problem with it that couldn’t be fixed, or it was so old they didn’t have replacement parts anymore. They ended up covering it under warranty and gave him a brand new equivalent replacement toolbox that was actually a little bigger and much nicer. He ended up retiring less than a year later!

SWEET!
S.O. sent me a rebuild kit for $0.00 so that I could rebuild an old ratchet that I bought second hand.
