Ran in to the snap on man in a parking lot the other day, asked for his card.

Said I might want to get a torque wrench checked for calibration.

He said well if it's not too old they can do it.

Huh?? Too old??:dunno:

Whats too old any one have an idea or familiar with this?

I don't know how old it is , it's a click type, so it was invented after the wheel I'm pretty sure.

I didn't know about the lead sealed part, but if that's true, they may run into an EPA issue by even taking it in for calibration..

too old as in previous models. Snap-on doesn't support them forever. If it is too old for snap-on to calibrate, doesn't mean you can't find someone locally to do it.

Who would do that sort of thing?
Wasn't there a snap on dealer on this forum? Maybe he can shed some light, seems wrong that a good wrench is no longer served by the dealer, cause they ain't cheap wrenches.:shocking:

Where in Southern Ontario are you? I've had stuff serviced in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville,

check out yellowpages, calibration services, or the like. Should definitely be able to have it checked locally.

Went back and looked at your post. The dialer did not say he wouldn't send it in, just that if it was an older unit, they might not be able to calibrate it. There should be several other options as noted above to get them calibrated besides Snap-on.

One thing to remember, I have seen guys hop on the truck with a torque wrench made in the 40's that is busted and want it "as good as new" again. If the glass or other parts are broken on a wrench that old, you are more than likely out of luck. If everything is there and nothing is broken, they should be able to get it running again.
