I found a snap on 3/4" drive torque wrench model number TQR600C for a really good price. I was wondering how much it would cost to get it calibrated.

Thanks

I guess this begs the question, do you really need a 600 lb/ft torque wrench? The reason I ask is, are you willing to spend possibly as much as $70 (plus shipping) to get it calibrated if you don't have Things to torque that go that high?

This is a split beam torque wrench that is unique in design. Actually split beams are noted for being solid and dependable and not prone to lose calibration as they do not have any springs in them to weaken.

well, I went to school for diesel mechanics working on yachts and big boats. I am looking to get a job working for a company that works on nothing but Caterpillar engines and for the price of this wrench its hard to pass up.

Thats exactly what I was wondering. Few people, including myself, have a real need for such a tool. I have a Norbar clicker, 3/4 drive (however the ratchet innards can be changed out to make it 1") and it goes from 370 lb/ft to 1100 lb/ft. but I'm not going to spend the money to get it calibrated, as I don't really need it. I might be able to get it calibrated at work, but I'm not sure that the calibration equipment will accommodate the length of this tool.

In your case, you will get good use from it.

Edit..... Krusty usually says.......................

Angle Repair & Calibration Service, Inc. 175 Angle Drive Beckley, West Virginia 25801 (304) 253-5726

When someone asks about torque wrench calibration.

Your tool is made by Precision instruments (If its the one I think, it appears you have it identified as a TQR600C when it is most likely a TRQ600C. Current version is a TRQ600E) Precision instruments makes this with either a 3/4 or a 1" drive. $550 new.

At least it disassembles so you can store it in a tool box drawer.

Split-Beam Click Wrenches overcome many of the problems associated with micrometer-style clock wrenches in abusive environments. The wrench has few components, and all critical parts are welded together at assembly. There is no need to "work in" a C series torque wrench before using it the first time. Nor is it necessary to adjust to the lowest torque setting after use. Setting the tool requires only fingertip force since the adjustment mechanism is not under load.

I would guess probably around $100.00 if you figure in shipping but maybe a little more.
