Snap-On TQR600E vs. MAC TWZ600P

Hey everyone. Looks like I'm in the market for a new 3/4 drive torque wrench due to my Westward crapping the bed, and my employer has given me the go ahead to get one of either the Snap-On TQR600E or the MAC TWZ600P and pay half.

I know the Snap-On equivalent is the Precision Instruments PREC4D600F (through research on this forum) but what is the MAC equivalent, if any? Same one? Any reason to go with one or the other? Any personal preferences? Price aside, I'm not too worried on cost savings right now.

Edit - I should mention that I'm a field tech and this will be stored in a service truck, if that has any bearing on quality.

I would phone up your Mac guy as soon as possible and get the Mac TWZ600P. they are on sale till Nov 26 for $627.99 about $200 off list. Snap-on list price is $1124.95

I recently bought the Mac TWZ400P. I think the difference between the Snap-on and Mac is that Snap-on has the rubber handle shaped like the 1/2 split-beams vs. the Mac round handle and Snap-on uses their regular 3/4" ratchet head while Mac uses a custom built one not part of their regular ratchet lineup

Great torque wrench. Probably use it two, three times a week on two settings, either 360 or 600ft/lbs for nearly three years with no issues.

Picked up a copy of the latest Lordco gs2 catalog today. The Precision Instrument 600 torque wrench # is C4D600F and lists for $639.95. There is usually shipping on top of that and you might get either the old stock round handle or the new version rubber handle

Mac/Snap-on warranty is easy not sure how PI warranty works in Canada

How are you liking the 400? Looks like we're leaning towards the Mac, can't really beat that price. I remember our guy mentioning it was on sale for November.

^ I like the 400, the handle length is just right for me, mainly torquing 17mm hex and 36mm nuts. The ratchet head is beefy and the handle is the classic PI style that Snap-on used for years. I owned a older Snap-on 600 split-beam, identical to the Mac except for the ratchet head.

Can't go wrong with the Mac 600, its also reversible for torquing older Budd truck wheels with the left-hand threads

Looking at this makes me think the MAC is made by Precision and the Snap-on is made by CDI.

We have both torque wrenches at the shop. Mac ratchet head has been repaired multiple times and the Snap on has never needed any repairs.
