Yet much of tool truck prices is in the service. If you are not getting the service you are paying for you should be upset. My snapon and matco guy dont expect payment when they dont show up, though i usually schedule one if they tell me ahead of time. Im not saying to stiff him, but if he is knowingly showing up after you are usually closed and gone that's his problem. Dont have time to see him? If im strapped for time I just hand him my debit card and tell him to run it for 40- 100 depending what my balance is, takes less than 30 seconds.

our guy stops every two weeks, 2-4 is about the time hes around. im sure were not the last stop as he always has about three more or better to go to yet from what he tells me.

he just got the franchise renewed last week so at least we get to keep out good snap on man. hes been really good to me for the stuff i ask about and want to get. i want to pay the bill off before i get more but things keep demanding that i buy more tools lately.

sad thing is that i don't need the tools for work its for my own work at home and for friends that i keep buying stuff for.

Do what most other people have to do and buy tools on your own time. I dont see how this should be upsetting to anyone. If you cannot spare a half hour of your own time to do personal business, use snap ons website.

Why should your employers pay you to play around with the tool truck guy anyways?

Here is the deal: My Snap-On dealer shows up every wed. at 10:00am and provides me with exceptional tools and service with no equal. I pay him as agreed or better. If he misses a day or I'm not there he gets a double payment next time. I find if you take good care of your dealer he will take good care of you. Why is this so hard to understand?

I had a war with our old SO guy. I have no problem with saving his payment if I missed him But.......... I owed the guy $600 ish and he did not show up for over a year! Yes I tried to call him but his mailbox was always full.

I then got layed off for several months............He shows up a year later wanting me to pay him in full. I didn't have the cash or that much in my account and he was not leaving till he was paid. Fortunatly my boss helped me out.

This guy was a jerk from the start and I never should have bought anything from him to begin with.

If I don't finance something for at least $50 a week, our dealer shows up completely at random. It's been 2 months since he's stopped by. I don't buy anything I can't afford to pay in full, but last time I bought a $400 item, I financed it just so he'd show up regularly.

When he does show up, half the time it's at break time. There's not enough break time to spend it on the truck.

He shows up at about 4:30 about 25% of the time, and everytime he is there, anyone at the shop Pays him. on some rare occasions he shows up at 3:30. (maybe Once every two months..)

have you discussed new hours for him to show up??????

Funny you ask, reason is that i would be just as happy to do my job with basic cheap hand tools. If ny tool fails and I cant finish the job on time, it does not bother me. If I dont have any power tools and and my job takes much longer, so what. I take pride in what i do, but my employer allows me the time to get the tools i need to make the company far more money than what I make with said tools. I think in many ways the average american is lazy and expects to be paid well for little or poor work. But also employers have been treating employees worse and worse, wages and benefits staying the same or going backwards year after year. Just because this is becoming more common it should not be the accepted norm.

Buying tools FOR company business should be allowed company time. The company is grateful I'm so freely willing to spend my hard earned dollars for the company's benefit, as it should be.

Our guy does every other monday 1530-1600, and every tuesday 2100-2130. Today he stayed till 10 to work a deal on a tool box. Honestly, he doesnt work much on price of tools, but hes got good service, is very friendly, and very reliable.

I used to have a great Snap-on dealer. Second generation, his dad was the dealer before him. He was there like clockwork Thursday at 5:00 (so he could drink our beer!) He was fair in his pricing. On call if we had an emergency. Would offer to loan you something he could have sold you, but knew you would only need once. And cut guys some breaks when money was tight.

He built loyalty from the techs by being attentive and loyal to them.

When I was a mgr., I didn't have a problem with tech's spending time on the truck. A well equipped tech is an efficient tech. That makes both of us money.

Our rep is a joke.

I ordered and paid for some things I needed sharpish which he didn't have on the van, I even asked if I could meet home somewhere if he wasn't in our area but had them, but haven't heard anything...and that was 4 weeks ago!

Mac dealer comes around 11 am every monday and is pretty tidy, he's even done a run in his own car out of hours when I've had to work late and needed something. Pretty good service if you ask me!

I guess I don't get it, you say you are there until you close at 5. He comes anywhere from 330-5 you said. If you owe him money just have it ready and drop it off on your way out the door. If you don't like his service don't buy from him anymore. If he comes after the shop is closed and you are already gone then I guess that is his problem and you can either mail his payment or he can wait until the next week for 2 payments. I don't see a problem with being on the truck for a few minutes while on the clock, but I also don't see a problem taking care of your business at 5 when you walk out the door. I enjoy looking at tools so wouldn't have a problem spending 30 minutes of my own time on the truck. But if you don't want to then don't, pay him off and order online or find a different source. Simple solutions to a non problem. I really wish this was my biggest problem in life.
