Just went around with the snap on guy today saying I owed him money saying I was a payment behind. I know I'm not and asked if he'd like to see the resipts he's given me he just walked away? Honestly he's been half way cool but he's geting to be a ****. Iv never been late on a payment and even when I'm not there I leave money in my box for him (small shop, don't really have to worry/ atleast not yet). Just really pissed me off aft spending thousands with him and then gives me **** like that outa the blue? I waswnt there last week but left him a check and I didn't see it go through mabey that's what he's talking about but could said that insted of bitchin that I owed him two weeks insted of one. So just wondering have any of you guys got problems with any of your dealers? I'm not bashing snap on I like there tools just don't like my snap on guy

That is a job that would ****. As the economy collapses around him.

No money for high price tools.

Right now in America, I'm not sure there is a job that isn't a part of the collapsing economy.

I would never finance tools to begin with. I always operated if I didn't have the money in my pocket or my bank account I didn't need to have it.

The exceptions are a home and primary vehicles. And I've always had a good percentage of cash for the down payment.

That's what I would do.
And when he asks you why you haven't bought anything from him after awhile, let him know he's an apology behind.

And that you want a free hat.

That's superb! It's polite, respectful, and truly gets the point across. It's not what you say but how you say it.

Don't drop to his level, no swearing, no attitude, just pay him off & ignore him. Actions speak louder than words. And if you still want Snap-On stuff, buy online.

Thanks guys for all the good advice. I dnt think ill ever get an "I'm sorry" from him he hold himself above everybody else which is fine cuz what comes around goes around. I'm wondering about getting stuff fixed tho but really haven't broke anything yet. But could just send it in or find another guy.

I had one a few years ago that was the worst I have ever been around, never ordered anything you ask for, truck was very poorly stocked. He always made up reasons why he would not bring the SO truck, I then noticed that on the way to work his truck would be parked at his house daily, then he would stop by the shop saying truck was at the repair shop for trans problems, wireing, always some stupid reason but he was just too cheap to drive the truck, it was always at his house. At first he would drive around in his personal car with laptop and printer and collect money, then after a month or so he tried to collect money only giving a hand written receipt.. what a ****. I along with others told him we were not paying nothing untill he brought a damn tool truck or a legitimate receipt and paper work. That Snap on guy only lasted about 6 months, now we have a kick *** guy:beer:

I have come to learn, if a tool guy starts worring about money even when you have paid faithfully, normally means he's in trouble. Major red flag is when he annouce truck account cap.

Or when you as a customer have always paid cash for your tools and the snap on guy isn't making HIS payments to snap on. I had this happen, and after he got fired, he said that it was due to us not paying. Snapon came to my shop demanding money. After we produced receipts that proved that we were paid in full they left, their tails between their legs.

I have an agreement with my Snap On dealers. (I had the same agreement with my MAC, Cornwell, and MATCO DEALERS). I only give HIM $25.00 per week. He let's me know when my account is getting to high and I will give him $250 to lower my account balance and to ease his mind. I never go over $1000. I've been dealing with the same two Snap On dealers. One Snap On draler since 1988 the other since 2001. Sometimes if I cannot make a payment I will let him know and make up the payments in a couple of weeks. Once I was out of work for a year but I kept in contact with my Snap On Dealer, and when I went back to work he was the first person I paid. My MATCO dealer got a corpotate postion with MATCO and he left. I did not have a MATCO dealer for six months. I was told by my previous MATCO dealer not to worry about a payment until the new MATCO dealer came. The new MATCO dealer showed up out of the blue and harrassed me the first time we met like he was a collection agency. I did not argue with the new MATCO dealer. I just told him to come back next week and I will take care of it. The following week I paid the $650 I owed and never bought MATCO again.....Until Snap On stop stamping USA on there ratchets, I bought MATCO 88 after that. I paid cash for the MATCO ratchets from a different MATCO dealer. I still buy Snap On Tools...just not any without the USA stamp.

Did he leave a receipt for the last check you left him when you weren't around?

there are always two sides to every story. I have seen it go both ways where the customer has a melt down over something that was his fault and then the dealer flips out over miscommunication.
people tend to go on the defensive without checking all the facts first. that only makes things worse. I had a guy buy a prolink iq at a pawn shop and he asked if he could update it. I said he could if he registered it under his name. he came back and flipped out on me saying that it was a govt issued ( stolen military is what that really means ) and he couldnt register it. not my problem, but i fixed it for him anyways and he finally realized i helped him even though he tried to bite my head off. he is in his 60's and was taught a lesson by a 32yr old on how to treat your friends and customers...

The poor sears place near here gets to replace so many broken tools for free... *evil grin*

Took one of those long blade screwdrivers that are like 18" long that got bent to like 45 degrees... *looks the other way*... No problem getting a shiny new one. ;) Typically though it is just regular wear & tear like worn sockets or broken drivers.

I think it is tough; when you have a poor dealer and someone who just isn't enjoyable to work with. The good ones (for me); tend to be the brands that I don't care for... in my case, Matco. I love Snap-On tools but it is a drag, when you do not have local support, that is easy to work with but I continue to purchase Snap-On tools and they are my favorite, most enjoyable tools I own. Find what you like and buy what you want to use; irregardless, of the dealer... I say this but when you have a good dealer, it makes you want to buy from them. Oh, well such is life; do what works for you...

From my armchair, it sounds like a simple mis-communication, or possibly he was just trying to flip you **** (especially in a small shop lots of joking around??). He might have had a bad day/week too.

I would try to patch it up with him first, I'll make it a lot easier to get SO tools or to warranty them.

Sounds like a miscommunication to me. I've had them with dealers and some I've worked it out if I was wrong and one in particular never came back. Oh well.

I did check my bank today and the check I wrote him did go through, iv had trouble with my bank before so wasn't sure mabey somthing happened. I'm thinking if he cares any about his costomers he will work with me to try to patch things up. But if not o well.

What does that have to do with how you pay for things. For along time I didn't make tons of money(I currently make 3-4x my living expenses) But still paid cash for everything. I didn't and still don't drive the nicest care on the block, or have the newest this or that, I usually have to save and buy when I have the cash, no credit.

I bought a 3 foot half in extension from my current dealer- got tired of piecing several together to access bell housing bolts. Dropped a Benjamin on his tool box next to his computer.

Got asked if I wanted to open up a truck account. I kindly thanked him and said no.

Out of pocket works for me

My snap on guy is pretty cool even though i never want to pay full retail for the tools i buy from him, but if he ever pulled something like that i wouldnt do business with him anymore, there's plenty of places to get snap on tools from that would apreciate your bussiness
