Snap-on Trucks & Discounts?

So for those of us that buy from our local truck dealers. How much does your guy give you if you pay cash for a tool? I've read here that some get 10% off. But I've also heard of some people getting 30% or even 40% off of retail.

100% depends on the dealer. I've had guys give me big discounts on stuff I put on truck account. My current guy isn't much for discount, but then again I don't ask how much stuff is anymore.

my guy will give 15% without a fight onto my truck account; but that is paid up pretty quickly
most of them will want you to carry a truck account so you are on there buying more, and will offer more discounts after that

My mac guy is the only one who knocks it down cash or not. The matco guy doesn't and our snap on guy who retired a month ago stuck to the book unless it was listed in the flier for less.

If you have to ask the price or for a discount, then get off the truck, cause you can't afford it.

Ken was my dealer back in the day when I worked at Bergstroms, but left there 8 years ago. I bought my bottom box from him.

Snappy man doesn't do a cash discount, and still makes you pay the tax, but he's usually good for a free hat.
Mac man eliminates the tax if I pay cash, which is 9.3%.

I have to haggle with mine. He'll charge you for an air fitting when you buy the air tool

i buy just promo items generally. to my knowledge he doesn't give breaks on price, least not to me anyway. he has though when something i want was on promo and ran out shortly after that will sell it at the promo price if he still has it.

i bought two ratchets from him after asking the price both were 100 bucks but he said the price had dropped on them about 20 bucks from what they were. i am not sure as to why but they were that much cheaper so i thought that was cool.

Don't ask all the time - every once and a while I'll get 20-30 percent with snap on - when I ask...Mac, 5 to 20 percent. But I usually get them to throw in a free tool here and there and don't bother with the percentage off. Don't hagel with them too much, can't be too fun dealing with the frugal hagglers and both our truck guys have little mouths to feed...

Neither of the dealers I buy from really do discounts, can get a hat or t-shirt out of the Snappy guy if you poke at him enough though. The Cornwell guy will make sure to give you the next month's flyer price if it's cheaper though.

Dang, I just got a new impact awhile back and he gave me a free container of air tool oil. Not the little one either the big *** one.

So far this year he has given me a hat,beach towel, sandals, shirt, socks, mini tool box, wall clock, a few pocket screw drivers.
Also every 3 months or so I buy $1k worth of tools, then put it on Snap-on credit 6month 0% finance. then he gives me about $200 worth of tools.
