I would put a Johnson & Johnson Band Aid badge on that box, because you are going to need lots of band-aids if you ever sold that as a Snappy box.

I'll leave the US General badge on mine. I wouldn't want to destroy resale value as the US General holds its value much better than snap on.

Keep telling yourself that. Anything bought at HF isnt worth the effort of reselling. I dont put value on my time or space to store "to be flipped" tools, but I gave up bothering to resell it years ago. Not to say anything about its value for the user, just for the reseller its not worth it.

I think I have one of the few boxes thats worthy of being rebadged SO.

I don't know boxes like some guys here, but I'm going to guess it's a Lista or some other industrial superbox.

I really like those Kennedy (right?) parts boxes you have attached to the side. I'm eyeing a brand new one, but the guy wants 80 for it. Would you take it? I've never seen them advertised, no list price.

Not to take sides here, but aren't we talking about steel boxes welded together with ball bearing slides on the drawers? Some people choose to spend $10,000 for that and some people choose to spend $800 on that. They both do that job well and last a long time. Call it whatever makes you happy since the only person you have to please is yourself and if spending $10,000 on a holder for your tools makes you feel superior, you go with that.

It's your box...do what you want. Don't try to pass it off as something it's not if you want to resell it. That wouldn't be right to do that to some unsuspecting person.

That said, I am proud of my US General box and I won't take off the label anytime soon. As a matter of fact, I have bought the US General emblem so my boxes match! (Old vs. New emblem).

Man some of you guys are real ****-hurt over this, it's not like he is trying to sell it as a counterfeit.

I bet he enjoys his box even more knowing how many grown men he made pout over it.

My Kobalt bench has a "Fender" badge off an old amp. Its kind of funny to see people do a double take when they first see it.

You SO guys need to settle down. You're fueling the fire here. I know what its like to pay a **** load of money for something and to take great pride in it. That being said, it would be far less time consuming just to skip to the next post on this great forum than it would to get into a ******* contest with the OP (no matter what his intent was). Just my .02. I'll let you princesses keep up your verbal cat fight.

Like I said above It's his stuff, I don't care if he paints dicks on it. It's the **** stirring that off puts me.

Is the white background "us general pro" logo the "new" one?

Personally I think it is tacky and immature to relabel something that it is not and convince themselves it is the same.

It is the OP's right to do whatever he wants and more power to him. What I have issue with is later down the road when for instance he gets hit by a bus and then his estate is left dealing with this box. While most around here are savvy enough see it as humped fake, I can see the shyster down the road after it changes hands 2-3 more times selling the unsuspecting a overpriced box as the real thing.

US General could be properly replaced with BS Chineral to be honest........ The use of the US General brand name is something that does piss me off.... Good box or not, it just pisses me off...

A lista or the like? Are you serious? A snap on badge on one of those is an insult to the actual manufacture. :lol_hitti You may increase "value" to those that don't know though. :dunno:

This is kinda my feelings on the matter. If you kept the US general badge and along side it added a Snap on, mac, matco, cornwell, or what have you that is one thing. But completly taking the US general badge off and replacing it with a SO badge in attempts(?) to portray it as a more expensive box. That I find to be just plain rude and dishonest. I mean I have no problem with guys that put corvette, Z28, mustang, stingray, etc emblems on their tool box, especially along side of the box makers badge.

I'll leave the US General badge on mine. I wouldn't want to destroy resale value as the US General holds its value much better than snap on.

Now that sir is funny AND true.

X2 :+1:, this came up a while back as they were on a box listed on ebay. IIRC, he was the only one that was familiar with them. He posted some info back in that thread. They look really handy, just like those very small 6 drawer craftsman, snap on and mac boxes that are so rare.

After I wasted way too much time googling I too could not turn up anything, no part # nothing on the kennedy site. Only time I would see them would be attached to other boxes for sale.

Personally I would pay up to ~$20 each if in good working, used condition. IF I could find them. They are neat and probably pretty handy, but $80 IDK. Heck I bought entire top and bottom 26" wide tool boxes for $80. Just seems a bit, or quite a bit high to me. Then again if you really want it. :dunno: But in^2/$ wise :shocking:

Suppose it's brand new? It's in an old supply house with lots of NOS tools, storage, and materials. The Kennedy tags are still on it, and there's a catalog on the inside. Looks like it's from the 80s. I totally agree on the price being high, but that alone won't knock me to one side of the fence.

Still to me. I am a user not a collector. I kinda like the used patania, and definitely the used price :lol_hitti As neat and handy as they seem, I still can't justify spending $80 on one, considering what limited storage cap they add and considering what you can get on the used market in terms of storage. If I really wanted one, and I am considering doing this. I would try to find an old cantilever or tackle box , cut it in half :shocking: and make two out of them. Usually I see old metal tackle boxes for ~$10-20. So it wouldn't be too much of a cost. Find a piece of sheet metal to form the inside covering the cut, tack it on and boom done. :dunno:

If it is at a supply house do they have the model number and kennedy specs on it? I would think so, especially if it is still in the box or the like. :dunno:

EDIT, do you know what it is exactly called (ie, side box, side tray, etc)? I haven't seen many detailed pics of one, and am curious.

Not a Lista but close, its a Vidmar. The funny thing is that my father made similar jokes about the SO badge lowering the value of it. Personally I could care less, dont think any of the true SO collectors will gripe about it, and the uninformed get all excited about its "value." One of these days I need to clean and repaint it and will probably tweak it a bit more to look more like a real "toolbox," maybe Ill use a few SO styling cues?

As for the Kennedy side boxes, I dunno about $80. Im a cheap SOB and have stumbled across several by themselves for ~$10 each time. For that price I find them very handy for storing electrical connectors and the tiny common hardware bits I would otherwise lose.

This is my box. It had some stickers on it when I bought it and I took them all off except for the Cummins and Matco badges. I don't love the Matco labels on it but I dont hate them either. The P.O. nor I claim that it's Matco (or Cummins powered) but for $200 delivered to my house i'm not going to complain.

Seeing how I obtained one ,a Kennedy CT-4(cantilevered tray) in some boxes I purchased I stumbled across this thread and thought I would share what little I know.
I was watching one recently on Ebay which sold for a B-I-N price of $150!!
So it coming up in this thread got my OCD up and I looked at the one I have which provided the model number.A Google search revealed this:
http://secure.nhbragg.com/product/ktb-ct-4-canatilever-tray-699443/

I am not familiar with the company/reseller but gives you an idea of worth/value.

O wow alinc100, what a coincidence. :lol_hitti :lol_hitti

I searched and searched for "kennedy folding side box", "kennedy cantilever side box", "kennedy fold out side box", etc. and turned nothing up. I guess "kennedy cantilever side tray" was the magic phrase.

Can I ask, what is your opinion on it? My experience is that Kennedy typically makes some very nice stuff, usually $$$$$, but high quality. For some reason, that side tray looks to be a bit on the flimsy side. At least to me from the pics :dunno: Does it seem solid? Do you think it would hold to everyday use in a shop? Hold wrenches, pencils, blocks of steel?

If I am seeing this correct, there is no hanging lip on it like a standard side box? You would have to actually bolt it down to your main box?

I think when mounted it would hold a fair amount of items.I don't think I'd try packing it with large blocks of steel.I just cannot think of a place when you could mount it that it would be very handy.Maybe hold your specialty wrenches/sockets,etc.I don't think it would like to be crammed full of impact sockets or such.

And it can mount thru the back side or thru the bottom.

That is kinda what I was thinking. It seems like one of those "neat items" but not extremely practical in a bunch of different situations. :dunno: Especially in the home shop. I know for myself I like to keep other larger items (ex. file cabinet) up against my tool box to maximize vertical storage space. So side boxes, even small ones like that are a bit of a waste of space IMHO. With those you would have to leave ~15" open for it to fold out. Which is about the same width of a standard file cabinet. Much more storage space, and a heck of a lot cheaper. :dunno: Now for a person that works out of their box and has to be mobile, I guess I could see a market for them, but again IDK. Maybe there is a reason Kennedy stopped making them. Not enough were sold?

Thanks for the pics and info on it.

That is an interesting looking box with the diamond plate drawer fronts. It has an industrial use look to it.

Who is it manufactured by?

...The picture is not my tool box, and the emblem needs to be positioned better.

Wow! Four pages of comment because some guy wanted to artificially inflate his toolbox image. The OP said that it wasn't his tool box, believe it or not. Maybe he has a lower quality tool box and is thinking about rebadging it to make himself feel better.

Whatever floats his boat but I would advise him not to have his self image attached to the brand of his tool box or his favorite team's W/L record or the labels on his clothes, etc. Just buy the best tools that you can afford and make the best of them. Focus your energies on making money and upgrade when you can afford to do so.

Who gives a damn what emblem you put on it. Manufacturers slap their logo on a cheaper items someone else made and jack the price up on it all the time. As long as you aren't pulling a CamaroToolMan and trying to **** somebody by selling it to them as a Snap-On box, what's the harm?

I apologize to any one who thinks that I was "trolling." I see plenty of harbor freight tool boxes on Craigslist with Snappy prices. I just wanted to see what all people have put on there boxes. I really don't see a difference between the brands. But its all what ever
