Snap-on Utility Racks at Costco

Hey all.

Just came back from Costco. The local store here in Bloomfield Hills, MI is now selling Snap-on utility racks for $114

It looks rather nice, has the red Snap-on color and looks somewhat beefy. I did not take a picture and could not locate anything that says "made in the USA" or "made anywhere" for that matter.

I also did not take a picture... I know, shame on me :(

Just wondering what people thought of this or if anyone has seen these? Are they real Snap-on or just rebadged?

Like I said, they look good and will at least match the red garage stuff.

It's pretty sickening that Snap-On is whoring themselves out and diminishing their brand by selling this cheap **** at places like Costco and Amazon. Oh well I guess, it's the wave of the future.

Costco has been selling, snap-on stools, flash lights, knives and work lights for a while. Just another example of a company shoring their name for profit.

Here it is ... it's smaller than the Edsel they sell, which is why it didn't end up in my garage ;)

The box store snappy stuff is usually an abomination. Can't say about the racks, but the snappy branded costco flashlights are absolute garbage.

Stuff like this won't hurt the S.O. name. Hey, made in USA!

So far, they are staying with pretty safe products to rebrand. I used to also feel really strongly against this, but not so much now. If some gentle rebranding can help the company stay in their core business in the USA, I'm OK with it. No difference than buying Harley-Davidson boots or similar.

Looks good...made in USA. Dont they make a black one (different brand/label) which is all flat black?

With Costco its hit or miss, but at least they are able to 'hit' with some good ones.

Could not find anywhere where it says it was produced, nothing, not even China... which makes you wonder.

This only comes in red, at least that is what all the stores carry and it only shows the red model on the box.

I'm with the others, I don't have a issue with S/O whoring themselves out a bit to promote the brand name, So long as it stays with Quality Products ...

I have some S/O branded items, drywall knives and what not, all seem to be holding up good, and I love my S/O barstool

As a former dealer I feel the same way. What's next.

We found these at Costco in Saskatchewan Canada - wondering about quality etc hence the search. I did find two reviews at this site from recently... one from British Columbia and one from Ontario. http://reviews.costco.ca/2070-en_ca...p-on-4-shelf-storage-rack-reviews/reviews.htm

We plan to go pick up at least one of the units tomorrow.... I think they must be somewhat solid, the box weighs 187 lbs so they're not total tin anyway.

I'll post again once we get them home & installed, and also any more info I can find. FWIW, I can't find the product on any actual Snap-On site so it does make you wonder. I found two different product numbers for the same shelf, both Costco numbers, 92948 which is from the link above and 929640 from this site http://www.costco.ca//.product.1035..._source=RatingsAndReviews&utm_content=Default

The 92948 number can also be found on this site, which is not Costco but rather a company called Steelman (maybe!)

I think that Snap On should start selling Snap On Condoms.. Bet that they would sell out quicker than the flashlights! :bounce:

What's the in store price? Home Depot has an almost identical unit for $158, so half price of the Costco version. I'm finding Costco pricing less attractive all the time lately. At least in Canada...

I've bought used teardrop pallet rack for around this same pricing (using wood planks for the shelves). The gorilla rack is far from impressive unless purchased on sale IMO.
