Snapon Box value??

Today i went and looked at something for sale (non auto related) and saw a snapon tool box with 2 upper cabinets in the corner that i was told was for sale also. I was told that it has been unused for 2-3 years. It was full of tools but nothing that i got excited about. Mostly partial sets, c-man, or just junk. I didn't make an offer because i am not sure of the value of this thing. Can someone give me a price range for what is listed below including a "you ****" price??

Overall i give the condition of these things a 6 out of 10. I think if you cleaned them up and spend a little time they could be 7-8 but they are far from mint.

The bottom box is a KRL761B. It had a stainless steel top. It is missing the side handle and the casters look pretty rough. The drawes did not open and close smoothly but there was a lot of junk in them. IT had some black plastic things on the handles (locks??) that would slide from one end to the other.

On top of the box was a riser. It did not have a p/n but it looked just like this (http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...roup_ID=682153&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog) It appeared in pretty good shape.

Just sitting on top of that was another overhead cabinet with the p/n KRWL5435. It was also in pretty good shape.

I saw the keys hanging on a hook in the middle cabinet. What should i offer the guy??

Because of the hutch, 2k. But since he probably doesn't realize what he has, and doesn't use it, offer him 1k.

Have cash ready and way to haul it off, then get them to tell you what they want for it first.

The two cabinets are what throw me off on guessing a value, to me they would be useless, but in some situations you need that locking top space.

Find out why it doesn't have the side handle mounted. Make sure there's nothing wrong with the threaded inserts. Take a 1/4-20 bolt with you to check them.

i really don't know why the handle is missing nor did i see it during my quick inspection. It will be as-is. I am going back Monday with cash and a trailer. I just want to know what is a low ball offer.

Offer him 1k, period. Maybe $1,250 if there are enough tools, and you want them as well

If it's that rough, either get it really cheap, or pass. Ask him what he's asking, then if it's more, offer $750 and see what he says. Point out the flaws to justify your offering price.
