I'm looking to get my first scope. The two I am deciding between are a Vantage Pro with set of leads and version 9.4 or a Vantage Ultra with leads and the optional low amp clamp with version 14.4.

I see many people gravitate towards the vantage pro for a dedicated scope, is there any reason to get one over the other?

Software only.matters if you want the guided tests up to that year. Nice to have.

The ultra will use newer tech batteries. My gen 1 modis uses nickel metal hydride? They can be rebuilt for about 80 bucks, but the performance just isnt comparable to more modern batteries.

Stand alone amp clamps and a AESwave stacking ground plug will run you about 115 if you buy those later. The snap on leads are very short, depends on your usage whether that bother you.

Internal amps is more accurate for low amperage testing. Like key off parasitic draws. The screen on the Ultra is miles better than the Pro. Both are good scopes.

I have an 87v that can do the inline amp measurement. Just won't be able to graph it.

Thanks for the info!

When I contacted my snap on rep a couple of months ago, he informed me that the vantage pro is no longer supported by snap on. This is more important for the data base side of things which was what I used the most in support of the scope or meter.
In other words, could no longer update the data base. I assumed that snap on would no longer repair the pro if needed.
