Snap on- vertical tool storage

Has anyone actually seen or used the Snap On vertical tool storage system that mounts in a KRL7012 or KRL1012 locker? I have seen a few recently on CL and was wondering if it was actually practical or not. I checked with Snap On and it is discontinued, but it was $2000 or so.

A coworker at the Volvo dealership had that system in two of his FOUR end cabs (his box setup was the size of your average Chevy Duramax.)

While it was preposterously expensive, it was well made and did save space. I liked it, though I think putting that 2K into an additional used 42" pro grade box would get you a lot more storage for your $$$.

Intriguing design. I imagine that that the purpose it serves could almost be achieved with a well utilized hutch, but this is larger and quite trick.

In theory it saves a lot of space but functionality wise it's annoying and tools occasionally drop when the toolbox is being pushed around the shop. Especially when hitting that small rock on your caster "cussing" tools dropping, box is stuck. At the end of the day you'd rather want to put tools on a shelf like style tool box, more faster and efficient. "Time is money". Example a tool cabinet locker, or bulk side cabinet. My coworker has it he says it can only do so much. He says he only hangs prybars and hammers on them and it drops from time to time. You'd rather have screwdrivers and wrenches in drawers that pull out. The shelf style side locker, bulk side cabinet, and or powercab all these pull out horizontally and are way more functional. Especially for tools with cases and larger items. You open the box and you can "see" what you need IMHO the snap on powercab is one of the greatest space savers and has great functionality! always keep it simple stupid, user friendly. Nothing beats what veterans say. "If it doesn't make sense it doesn't make dollars". My 2 cent

I always thought in the right situation, it could be very practical for things like pullers and curtain speciality tools that hanging them up would make the best storage sense. Just to have to hang anything, I think it would be a waste.

There is no way I would spend 2g to update one of my lockers, but there is a locker for sale on CL for 800 that has this set up. Just trying to decide if it worth it to swap lockers. Its seems like a neat set up, but Im not sure if I would gain any space with this system.

IMHO neat? yes; practical? possibly in a very specific situation; worth the cost? no.
