Snap-On Warranty on China Tools

Does anybody know if Snap-On will warranty Chinese made tools. The only reason I ask is that I have only had this knife for about 6 months and part of the casting that forms the locking mechanism has broken.

I bought it on special, where if you bought this, a tape measure and a set of radiator pics you got a 1/4" socket set and ratchet for 1/2 retail.

My Snap-On man wont be here until the end of the month and I don't want to piss him off as I have 3 warranty ratchets and a seized MG725 for him this month. Any advice?

I do have lots of German tools, and most of them are good.... However I have broken about 75+ German made tools, with the repair returns to prove it. I have broken maybe 10 American tools over the same time period. Being 30+ years.

I have that knife piece of ****. Just go buy a new one.

That was my initial reaction, howeever I spend about £600-£800 every month and I was hoping he might give me a new one for free. I didn't think it was a bad knife though.

I am very similar in as I think that SO are the very best for hand tools. When it comes to woodworking and welding it is a completely different story. Power tools again I buy other brands, but everything in my on and off-shore box is Snap-On, with a small spattering of MAC. If he refuses to replace this though I might go to MAC. It might be a case of biting of my nose to spite my face, however I have a lot of money to spend and if it goes that way I could always buy everything from SO Industrial and go around the tool truck.

I agree as in snap on hand tools.i buy lincoln welding stuff Harris oxy-acetylene equipment various power tools.but i do have other truck brand hand tools along with sk armstrong proto old craftsman and others.i just consider things like razor knives dispozable but in your case since you bought in a package deal i might ask about warranty.in the us those knives and other types are sold at farm stores and big box stores like lowes or home depot.i was given a snap on pocket knife awhile back and was appreciative but dont carry or use because its china ****.but your truck guy may give u a new one no questions asked.

My guess is that would be considered a promotional item and not warrantied. But if you spend a lot of money he may either give you another one or make a good deal on a new better one.

Just email snap on and ask. I emailed them last night around 7pm requesting a rebuilt kit for my dual 80 and had a response within an hour stating they sent my request in to warranty department. I don't understand why people come on here asking questions about a 3rd party when they can go directly to the source.

I was being serious, honestly. The German stuff used to be good in the 70's. Nowadays it is junk. I will not buy anything that is not USA or British made, end of. Look forward to your future with Merkel.

Is this a legit off the truck tool or snap on badged item at the auto parts store???

If it's off the truck then I would think the gent would be well served to replace it based on the potentially large order you suggest is on the hook.
