Snap On Warranty: What is it?

I'm thoroughly confused from the different posts I've read on here regarding Snap On's tool warranty. It sounds like there is a Snap On warranty out there, but not really unless the dealer you go to likes you, you bring him some freshly baked brownies and you drop a few hundred dollars on tools?! Then he may decide to warrant some Snap on tools you own? :headscrat

So what is the official policy? Or is it up to each distributor's discretion meaning there might be a warranty, but there might not?

Warranty – Professional Use for Products. Snap-on warrants to Customers who purchase Product from authorized Snap-on distribution channels for use in their profession that Snap-on® brand Products and Blue-Point® brand Products will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a duration described in each Product's warranty code. The warranty duration depends upon the nature of the Product. If the Product information for purchased Product does not include a warranty statement with the applicable duration or prior to a Product purchase, Customer can obtain the Product warranty code and warranty duration from a selling Snap-on dealer or representative or by writing Snap-on at the address provided at the end of this warranty statement. Consumable Products are warranted, at the time of sale, only against defects in workmanship or materials that prevent their use. Consumable products are goods reasonably expected to be used up or damaged during use, including but not limited to drill bits, saw blades, grinding discs, sanding discs, knife blades, files, O2 sensors and batteries. This warranty only extends to the original Customer and cannot be transferred or assigned.

During the applicable duration of the warranty, at its option, Snap-on will repair or replace its Products which fail to give satisfactory service due to defective workmanship or materials, or provide a refund by repaying or crediting Customer with an amount equal to the purchase price of such Products. Repair, replacement or refund shall be at the election and expense of Snap-on, and is Customer's exclusive remedy in place of all other rights and remedies. To obtain warranty service, return products to Snap-on or a Snap-on dealer. By repairing or replacing a Product, or providing a refund, Snap-on does not waive a claim that a Product nevertheless has been subject to abnormal use.

first sentence seals the deal imo. authorized channels

That is why I never can get my stuff fixed because I am not a professional, oh well, I will just throw them away and buy something that is warrantied for both professional and non-professional people, like industrial tools-PROTO!!!! Or maybe I am not an industrial user and still screwed,:lol_hitti

You just answered your own question with your first post.

i have NEVER been turned down for warranty by ANY snap on dealer for ANYTHING.......even obviously abused tools.

Me neither. Honestly, if you read the warranty, it says to a dealer and original purchaser. There is no way for them to know whether or not your the original owner. Just give them the line you saw a truck and stopped and bought it. It also doesn't say to go to the dealer you bought from.

There is nothing stopping the dealer from blowing you off.

from my dealer, yes.

from snapon directly, probably. as long as a note is placed in the box explaining the problem. hell, he could even put it off about the lack of chrome plating in the box end, which could lead to rust.

it kills me that there has been so much talk about this stupid wrench, over multiple threads.

send me the friggin wrench and ill get it swapped and send it back.

Like I've said before, if you guys would get busy and think up your own threads to start, I wouldn't have to. That thread about "who makes the best tongue & groove pliers," was starting to bore me sick.

I've never had a problem getting stuff warrantied.I've walked on trucks in Halifax,Toronto,Miss,Oakville,St.Catherines and here in Sydney and just said "Hey how are you?I have this ratchet, screwdriver, whatever and it's broke do you have a kit, blade, bit whatever?"One guy asked me who my regular dealer was and I told him whoever I happen to see,I work mobile service.I see a truck I pull in,get stuff fixed or buy what I'm looking for. It's never been a real issue. And no I don't think they warranty for rust, everything in a service truck gets rusty.

The warranty is for pros and first market sales only ( bought from a dealer or SO directly) other wise you are SOL

buy from ebay = SOL deservedly so too as only the first time purchases has a right to a warranty.

I have never been turned down either. Im cheap...err frugal. :shocking:

My dealer knows, but I still buy stuff. I keep a revolving door of like 200 truck credit and pay him 20 -30 a week. No issues. Plus Im lucky. My original deal died. This is my replacement for years. He has no idea if he sold them or my passed on fella, so I get warrantied no problem. Only thing I couldnt warranty is cracks in the handle of 5/8 steel prybar. Some idiot, not me, decided to use the handle as a hitting point. This one was before they started to use the metal caps on them for hitting with a hammer. I explained it to him and he wouldnt warranty it due to handle not broke through. And I cant buy a new handle.

Yes I can be ****, but this was a new bar. If it was me cracking the handle, fine, but my idiot boss did it. And spending 75 bucks on a py bar, It just upsetting.

Other than that I can warranty anything...ebay bought stuff..etc. He just has no idea who I bought it off. Plus the cool thing is he buys tools.

I got a great deal of a set of flank drive wrenches 10-18 and a 5 piece metric flare drive wrench set for 75 cash on cl. I sold him my old 4 pieces twin beam style flare wrench for 80 bucks. Seriously. 4 wrenches from the late 70's and he bought them for 75 and 4.80 sales tax.

That was cool. Send me the stuff you want fixed and some beer money and I will take care of it. Might take 2 weeks to do it as he wont take a lot of returns in a one week period, but I can get it exchanged.

Ask a friend who is a mechanic to exchange them for you. I assume you can ship them back to Snap On.

Not a pro but my dealer has NEVER had a problem with a repair or replacement of a tool. He will even tell you that he does not care if you got it from Ebay or CL, he will still honor the warranty from Snap-on.

I bought a ratchet a couple of weeks back that happened to have a bad pawl and gear. No problem, I cleaned it up, he put in the kit, shot the breeze with him for 15 or 20 minutes, said goodbye and left. He's hunting up some deals for me in Vegas right now..:)

I hope she's cute.....
