Oh boy here we go. And you need a reciept too. This has been discussed at great length many times. It seems to be a case by case thing so far. I will say that I have NEVER been turned down for warranty from my Dealer.

Adam- There's a million threads on this and they're all a bottomless pit. Look around and it won't be too hard to find one.

I have never had an issue with Snap On Tools that I myself did not purchase. I also did not know that the warranty only applies to the original owner, but that does make a lot of sense.I find a good deal of Snappy stuff in junk cars as they clear & leave our impound yard. Some are damaged or broken, & never been questioned before! Ill ask my Snappy guy.

Ive Never had my Dealer ask me for a Receipt, This New policy is only to ward off the bottom feeders.

Hell there was a post earlier today where a guy sent in his Winter tools for Summer tools..

I wouldnt worry about it, Till they deny your warranty because you dont have a receipt.. and if that happens, Use your Head and Calmly explain that there policy is New, and when you bought your tools it wasnt Required.

All: I'm an avid reader of GJ. The threads I saw all had the same advice; Develop a relationship with your dealer and buy stuff when you ask for warranty work.

I'm an online customer. No truck stops in my driveway. I've bought about $250 worth of tools in 2 separate orders over the last 2 weeks as I upgrade my hand tools. Yesterday I asked S-O customer service for 3 tiny bits from my 1/4" bit sockets. Retail value $30. Here is their prompt response:

"Thank you for contacting Snap-on Tools. Warranty coverage is provided to the original owner of the tool."

This is per their terms and conditions clearly stated on their website. Shame on me for not reading it carefully. I'll probably fork over the $30. I'm not mad at Snap-On. But I may not buy anything else from them. I certainly won't patronize a truck driver I may never see again. And no ebay purchases. If S-O requires proof of purchase, I figure I have a better chance buying online direct.

Its Unfortunate, but im assuming you told them you bought them Second hand? I dont spend alot with my Snap on Dealer, He just chooses to keep me happy on the "Rare" occasion i need warranty work. If your Not happy with Snap on, by all means there are plenty of other tool manufacturers, Word to the Wise.. Keep your Receipts.. Its coming for All.

if you get any flak from the dealer, use the 800 snap on number! apparently, i am becoming famous for summer and winter tools, but a nice "oregon locktite" bolt will snap a snappy socket, maybe even faster than a mac one. while waiting a long time for it's replacement will make you pull whats left of your hair out, the people at snap-on are easier to deal with than the "truckers", who only reliably show up at dealerships when there is a payment to be made.....
