I know, I know...another Snap On warranty thread...

I'll start out by saying I've never bought anything from a SO dealer. I've been on a truck once, but I'm just a DIYer. I've picked up numerous SO tools secondhand as well as inherited some. I have ordered a couple small items from snapon.com, but nothing over $20.

After reading about warranty issues here, I was hesitant to buy SO. However, I had a couple of ratchets that didn't work properly along with a universal joint. I call in today, give the woman the part numbers. She asks if I just want them to send rebuild kits, to which I said I don't have the proper tools to repair them myself. I said I would be happy to just have them rebuilt, but she responds by saying they'll just send me new ones (with higher tooth counts).

Nothing was said about me not being the original owner, going to my local dealer, or whether or not I had a receipt. Heck, they even sent me a prepaid shipping label!

I just got done packaging them up so I can't comment on what will happen from here, but I am very impressed up to this point. I was expecting at least a little hassle, but instead it went flawlessly. If everything else goes well, I'm going to feel obligated to buy some new Snap On tools!

Thought I'd share my experience, and I'll update this when I get a package back from them!

Sounds too good to be true and all that.

Hope they exchange for new product but I imagine they will send the originals back with new mechs.

Maybe they will send you a free screwdriver or summit.

She was pretty clear that they would completely replace them. She even gave me the new model numbers.

I was pretty surprised, because who would turn down brand new ones given the opportunity? I know one of these is out of production and she said rebuilt kits aren't available, but the other one isn't that old and they still had kits.

I have had a similar experience. They are pleasant to deal with, give no hassle and you get your new tools within a week of calling.

Sounds like your getting dual 80s. Your life has just changed. And you don't even know it. You will be spending more money at snap to replace other ratchets. You will be looking for things to tear apart and ask.your friends to replace parts on their cars that don't even need it yet for "preventative maintenance" and girl will be banging on your door to get some action.

Ok, one of those may not hold true... lol
