Currently looking to sell off my complete set of MAC wrenches, mostly due to no MAC guy. I like the new foam snap on sets. Looking at this set of 38 mm and standard but cannot figure out the depth of the foam. Says it fits in a 3" drawer....But my in my EPIC box I use the long drawer below the top for wrenches. Seems its not 3" deep inside. But the outside face of the drawer is around 3". I was thinking maybe they measured the outside depth for drawers :dunno: Don't have a SO guy to ask. Here is the set in question. Don't want to spend $2500 and not be able to fit in my wrench drawer.

Still not understanding why you want to sell the tools because you don't have a dealer :headscrat

How often do you break wrenches to owrry about a tool truck? Not to mention that Mac will still warranty them without a dealer. I have a Mac wrench set that I bought back in 1989 (at a swap meet) and have yet to break a wrench. Should I be selling my set too?

To answer your question, call or email Snap On and ask them. Or, save your money and just keep the Mac tools you already have and make your own foam organizer.

Same reason people trade Fords for Chevys? Lol I want them because I can. I like the foam organizer and want some flank drive plus. Why would I care what you do with your wrenches. I have a SO dealer local and I am sure he would come to my farm if I wanted to buy things. MAC has no support in my area. Most of my stuff was bought on eBay. You might have convinced me, I might just email Bob! Saving money for wrenches, no long distance calling for me.

I actually sold the foam that came with my Snapon wrenches and use a custom foam set up from Tool Bed instead. It’s way better.

Those tools look like artwork. Very pretty.

Mine are mostly just thrown in drawers.

Issue with foam layouts is it takes a TON of room. Also a pain if you break or lose a tool and the replacement isn't the same.

Spent 4 years in a tool room. Building and maintaining tool kits was part of my job. Had to be all etched and in foam for FOD prevention.

If you want the Snap On set, just buy them Using the excuse of saying you have no Mac dealer doesn't make sense, which was my point. Just say that you want this Sanppy set and want to know how tall the foam. Saying you have no truck for warranty is a mute point in this day and age.

And like I said earlier, call Snap On and explain your question and where you want to put them and they will give you your answer.

SO says the foam insert is 3" thick. Makes sense, because the wrenches stand up and not on much of an angle. Not sure I want to re arrange my entire box for that.

Edit: so my large wrench drawer in my EPIC measures 2 7/8" with the rubber liner. No idea if that's considered a 3" drawer or not. Figured someone might have first hand experience.

I was looking at that website. Did you use their designer or just diy from their foam?

I used their design program. They have ~90% of the Snapon catalog in there so it’s quicker and more accurate then cutting it out yourself. I’d highly recommend their service.

I inquired about some of my specialty tools and apparently they have plans to make their tool scanner available in NA soon. When ever that happens I’ll probably use them to finish all of my boxes.

My tools have not looked that shiny in many years:drool:

Just about everything I work on is high precision and very expensive so I’m religious about always cleaning and putting my tools away soon as I’m done with them. Clean organized tools saves me time and thus money.

I bought the sets individually, up to 1-5/16" and 25mm respectively. Of course now they've come out with that "master set". In the foam I'd say you'd "just" get by with a 3" drawer. I opted for Ernst racks, foams sitting in their boxes.

I figure a deal might be had on the set from a dealer maybe. Might track down a truck and see. Maybe they will promo them. I have rarely paid retail. The old SO guy I had would always save me some for paying with a check/cash every time.

That doesn't make sense looking at the whole assembly with wrenches set into the foam.
The SOEXM25 is 52 mm at the open end.
The SOEX42 is 2-21/32".

Foam with wrenches 3" makes sense.

And that is a great size range. Enjoy your new wrenches.

Yeah thats what I started thinking. Since the wrenches stick above the foam and the foam is 3” according to SO...why I thought someone here would be more helpful than a lady at SO who might know little about the subject.

I have a set of open end flare nut wrenches and a set of ratchet ends that sit in pretty racks, but all the rest are loose in the draw... The same way my father had his in his box... for almost 50 years... only takes me an extra few seconds to find anything, even on my worst day.

If I had a huge monster box with lots of extra room, those foam trays would look awesome tho...
