I found a mixed bag of Snap-On, Armstrong and No-Name combination wrenches at a consignment shop today. There were probably 8 or 10 larger size S.O. wrenches, 7/8 to 1 1/8 and some metric in the bag. The wrenches were not plated and were in good condition. The current price is 82 bucks. I balked at it but wanted your guys opinions on if I should go back and see if it is still there tomorrow.

Do you need them?
Can you upgrade some with them.

At a ten spot each plus the others it isn't a silly price at least. Resell the unwanted stuff to recoup a little too.

Are they black oxide? I think the key issue is really do you need them? Snap on is nice if you use it alot, otherwise you are just parking money on the shelf. Also, larger wrench sizes don't always seem to be as sensitive to materials or design, so the premium is harder to justify imho. But $8/per peice above 22mm is objectively a more than fair price--those are big wrenches--and Larger size snap on wrenches are expensive. But you are missing 1 1/4 and 1 3/16 which would be useful, and by the time you added those required to really complete a set of 22-32mm or standard SAE to 1 1/4, you'd be in for a bit more money than $80ish.

edit: i'd say the % of snap on vs other brands matters alot in this deal, and just what sizes are what brands...etc.

If you can get Snap On wrenches for $10 a piece that are in good shape (plus the extra wrenches thrown in for free) I would consider that a fair deal.

It's not something you can make a bundle flipping, but a good price for an end user.

Okay, thanks guys. Most of the S.O.'s were black oxide with a couple of chrome ones in the bag also. Price-wise I am of the same mind as you all. I don't need them so I'll pass. I'll keep an eye on them though. If they don't sell before the next price drop I may pick them up then. About 25% cheaper.
