Yea I think I may have maybe just did a good or bad thing. At school we can charge tools to our financial aid account, well so hick found the book at the student shop next to the snap on tool box (Which is very tempting to ask if it is for sale also) well she order some tools :) Why not I have some financial aid coming back. I order a nice green screwdriver set.:) My whole point of going in the store was to buy my CPR mask for class. I really just couldn't help myself and I guess it was a treat since I am doing great in my classes and still have all A's and it is only the 6th week of school. I felt like I was drooling over the book while looking at everything I want. My favorite color is green and that is why I went with Green.

Its a very contagious disease... Snap-On-itis. It spreads quickly and there is no cure found yet.. You might want to see your snap on dealer frequently as depression and no sleep might symptoms, if they occur please PM me and send me all your tools.

See I even told my boyfriend that lol. He treats me with camo things and I treat myself with tools :) I told him he will need a very good money making job to support my tool habits!
Keep up the good work green screwdrivers are nice too.
I am trying :) I'm happy that I have all A's in my classes for having full time status and working part time. I just can't wait for the day I get my auto tech degree :) I will be one happy girl and than I will be moving on to the next degree. My plan is to open my own shop one day and be the boss. I think having a girl run a auto shop would be a good thing.

:bounce: I think my dad may try to take my collection. Everytime I seem to get into my tools something is missing and I look in my dads toolbox and I find it! So you may have to fight with him.

It is very contagious. I have to contain myself at school, everything is very tempting, but I have to remember I can't go broke lol.

It is money I get for school. So bascially yes. I get a refund check back if I get good grades and such. It is money used for things like gas, rent, school supplies, ect. Since I need tools for what I am doing I can charge it on it with my school supplies.

It happens to us all. It's like a kid in a candy store. You can't help yourself. I was on my Snap On Truck two weeks ago to make my last tool payment......$70.00 is all I had to pay....I walked off the truck with a new ballance of $310. LOL. I believe it must be all the chrome. My Snap On Dealer can see me coming from a mile away.

I worked in a shop with a female service manager and two female service writers. It was the smoothest running shop I was ever in.

Good luck in school, and congrats on keeping your grades up!

Psh, I don't get my nails done because I think it is a waste of money. I can use that money on some new tools :)
Are you in an automotive or diesel program?
I'm in the automotive program.

Just remember - it sounds like you're younger. Do not charge things to accounts that you cannot pay for. Sounds silly and rhetorical, but so many people forget this.

Is this a loan you will be paying back or is this a free screwdriver set on the backs of tax payers?

I will not do a loan unless I have to. Maybe later on in the program, but i am saving my money from work and what I get from the school for supplies.
I'm thinking Pell Grant. The Feds give money to kids to go to school (like 5k a year or something) but it seems they can spend it on whatever they want (without any repayment) provided they keep passing grades. I'm sure someone else can explain it better than me.
Yes you are correct. It is used for supplies and things like gas and housing for school.

Not a loan, it is through my pell grant that I get. It is used for supplies for school, gas, housing, ect.

I do the same thing... using pell grant $ for tool buying. i turn down the loans and accept the pell grant (do not have to repay).

My GI Bill pays for tuition and fees. Unfortunately for GI Bill recipients like myself... the school mandates that each student must have minimum entry level tools, but since we don't purchase them through the school, the GI Bill will not reimburse for tool cost, even though its a requirement of the school & tools are mandatory in order to stay enrolled in the automotive program. currently trying to get the school to change policy and get the cost put on the fee list from the school and have it billed to the VA. The VA pays for required books, extraneous fees & tuition. As long as im not going over the cap for benefits, they should cover ALL required/mandatory tool costs.

Don't forget to figure the interest you are paying on the (for now) *free* money. It can add up to a lot more than a decent set of Cman that will get you through school and into the working world where you'll actually be making a paycheck to not only pay off your loans but also buy the tools you really want.

I know it is tempting to bring a new Ferrari to driver's ed, but . . . .

any branch of military. as long as you paid into it, and qualify for benefits upon discharge. they also pay for housing. (amount of $ per month for housing depends on location of school)

It's not like I spend every single $ I get. I still have a lot saved up and I will be usuing what I get to work in class with some stuff. It's not like I bought it just as a gift to myself that isn't going to be used in class. We are required to have somethings in class and I needed a set of screwdrivers. I spend a little, not my whole pell grant. I don't have a loan either right now and don't plan on getting one. That is why I work and am saving a lot of my school money in a savings for when things get more expensive in the next year when I get more involved in more auto classes.

If I had spent 1/2 of what I spent on Whiskey & Beer in college on tools, I could have built a dealership service garage by the time I got out!

Nice choice on the screwdriver set as your first snap on tools. There are some things that are just different and screwdrivers are one of them. Different size, feel, shape etc. I used screwdrivers to hold my VW's together, so I had to get nice ones. That was my first purchase off the truck too. Any brand socket will turn a bolt, but go for the stuff off the truck that is unique to that brand, be it Mac or Cornwell. Make sure it best suits you

On the other hand that student pricing is as cheap as Snap On will ever be... Good luck!

I think Snap on tools will prove to hold their value/usefulness better than college textbooks!

College textbooks give knowledge... knowledge is priceless.

Hence why student loans are not forgiven in bankruptcy. You cannot take back the knowledge learned in school like you can take a house.

Yes, that's why I figured it's a good idea to be smart and get what I will use with a nice discount. I want the toolbox in the student bookstore, but im scared to ask how much it is lol.

I plan on keeping all my auto books i buy at the college and selling the rest back after I get the knowledge I need.

You got it, up to $5500 a year "free" money. I qualified for it for the first time ever this year (now that I am almost done). As anti-government assistance I am I almost had too much pride to take it, but then I turned in my taxes and realized I will be getting pounded in the *** for the rest of my life I might as well take what I can get now. I just calculated up a rough total of how much I have payed in tuition... roughly $28,000 :eyecrazy:

If they wanted too they could take away your degree and that would make your time at school essentially worthless.

BUT, that does not get them more money (like a house would). Majority of student loans are put out by the government and they are going to get "their" money (as they should)

Damn! I could never afford paying for school all myself. I work at a part-time job and make hardly anything. I got to school full time and work my part time job. I don't spend my money stuipd. If I get anything back I usually put it in my school saving account to use for supplies for next semester.

How can they take a degree away? A lot of poor people get this. Yes some abuse it and I am sure not one who abuses it. I actually use ot for school supplies for what i need and save for next sememster. My ex new a friend that his girlfriend abused hers.
